Default Side Exhaust cover repairs - Epoxy instead of fiberglass???

If one were to use an epoxy to fix the insulators on side exhaust covers - what would be the best... for heat, stability... I just am thinking it would be easier to re-create some of the screw mounting areas without using fiberglass... ??? thanks

Most of the epoxy/uerthane adhesives I use require high heat applied to them and make them soft so they can be removed. SO I would check with an IR thermometer and see how hot it is in the area of your concern. I would feel that fiberglass resin and matt would do the trick...BUT...with the advances in epoxy/urethane adhesives, I am sure that there must be something out on the market that would do the trick. Looks like it may be time to call some of the major adhesive manufacturers. For me, I would do it in fiberglass and resin. Some of the adhesives I use are quite expensive. All depends on how bad off your insulators are.

Good luck,

Thanks DUB... I am doing fiberglass tonight - so - using your thoughts and moving forward. You are right - fiberglass will work fine - has for 40 years

Got the insulators glassed up.... good taping helped a ton..... I used thin plastic to maintain separation of certain pieces - then when the resin set up, I gently pulled the thin plastic out....came out great.

I will grind out in a few days
