Yes, I threw in another c-note. They did a good job and didn't realize until after they started painting that a '71 consists of over 20 separate pieces.
Strange that you ask. When my master painter and I met the first time....explaining that I was looking for high end high detail and would only accept the best, this was my offer. If the car was awarded a "Best Paint Award" the first year out at a national show, I will give you a $1000.00 bonus. Well, the first show that I attended was Super Chevy Richmond.....and yep, you guessed it....Best Paint! Best $1000 I ever spent as I have received numerous awards ever since.
each time i had my 2 cars painted i went there the day before and handed the body guy and the painter each an envelope of 150 each, they were very aprecitave of it , i was going to do it after the car was done but one of my older coworkers who left and opened his own shop said to tip first , they would go the extra yard after it is done its a little late,p/s it would be advisable to do this without the owners knowlege, the shop painted my small motorhome and the owner saw me hand them money and scolded me and them for giving them money ,he said he pays them well
Location: Somewhere between Nashville and New Orleans
Seeing as how my painters are my father- and brother-in-law, they get more than their fair share of help from me on their race cars. Matter of fact, I haven't had a decent project going in years, so I figure as soon as I get to the widebody stage, I'm due.
I been doing paint work for close to 30 years and i dont ever remember getting a "Tip"
Ive had several cars i have painted appear in magazines and take best of show/paint. One took best at Street Rod Nats East and the guy said he painted it to 1 of the magazine it was in. LOL Porch does have a point though!!!
