I am looking at purchasing a used C6 that has plastic paint protection mask on it. Question is do any of you have any experiences with what to expect when this is removed. Has the paint been affected at all by having this coating on it....faded etc. or is the clear-coat affected?
We probably all have our own opinions on these types of products, but I personally would never install it on my cars or trucks.
IF it is the film...that you are talking about....that is directly on the paint. I have worked on a few C5,6's with it and I did not see any problem with it at all. As a matter of fact...on one car...the film actually protected the paint and did not require re-painting when it was removed. This film made a believer out of me...as for seeing it first hand. It is some awesome stuff.
i have installed and removed several types of protection film on my car. it does not affect the paint underneath in any way, i had a piece removed that was on the car for over 3 years, no problems at all.
if you decide to remove the film, use a heat gun to warm it up before pulling off.
