Default DIY Blackout Lights?

I'd like to blackout my side markers only, not the head/tail lights. Can this be done well by a DIYer or do I need to go to a paint shop or just buy the covers?

If it's a project for a DIYer with a rattlecan, anyone that could point me to a solid walkthrough would be greatly appreciated.

Removing the bulbs will kill the light. Spraybombing the lenses will "black " them out. Do you mean you want to remove, then fill the holes left by your side markers? If so, no not a rattlecan bodyman type job.

No, that's "shaving."

I want the red/orange light cover for the side markers to be tinted very dark.

Here is a link to a product at Ecklers that achieves the same effect, but is a cover that you stick on over your existing lights.

Sorry for the confusion. Many members here with many skill levels, and expectations. If you are willing to sacrifice a set of lenses and experiment, choose a nice color and have at it with a Candy or other "transparent" color. At worst you will have to order them new... you might just love your handiwork though!

its very easy, summit or your auto parts place has a product called night shades. buy that and some clear

first remove the lights
sand them with 800 grit sand paper
wipe them down with rubbing alcohol or prepsol
spray very light coats of nightshades minutes apart (you want thin and even so you dont run)
let it dry for 30 to an hour or until paint is tacky
spray a light coat of clear
wait a few minutes then apply two medium coats to get the smooth look
wait 24 hours, if the light dried orange peely then wetsand with 1500 to get the light even followed by 2k to make it easier to polish the sanding marks out
you can use meguiars ultimate compound by hand (you will need alot of energy) and followed by scratchx then swirlx to get the lights absolutely glass smooth...

or see if a local body shop will do it for cheap
