I am wanting to paint my 75 a green color. The car was red from the factory but I am not big on red cars, sorry guys. I was thinking of going with a dark green but not sure. Any of you have any pics of nice greens? I am thinking of going with HOK KBC09 or perhaps a color they did on vettes called dark bowling green.
I chose fairway green on my 73. My car was originally elkhart green so I wanted to stay in the green family. They used fairway green on 97-98 vettes and 97 or so blazers. send me an email at robert.prestridge@us.army.mil and I will send you a pic. I get a LOT of compliments on the color. Green is an awesome color for vettes. I looked into HOK but a blazer caught my eye.

Yeah I know but the car was already a different color. I am not going for a factory restoration, but want something that I will enjoy. I already have stripped the car to bare glass and have done all the body work and am in the process of blocking it out.
Tim,
Go to the paint supplier and find the color that GRABS you. Regardless of what it was used on.. I have a color library that has about 10,000 colors in it from every car manufacurer. Some of the colors are so close to one another that the trained eye can not tell the difference. Just make sure you look at them in the sunlight and check all of the angles..due to some colors change drastically on the angle. Some go darker, some lighter, and some stay the same.

As much as I'm a fanatic for black cars, Pontiac had a dark, metallic green in 1969 that looked really good. I think it was called "Verdoro Green", or something like that.

Better that that, go to the dealerships and look at colors. You cant really tell from a chip. It is better to look at the color on a vehicle.

What are some good paint manufactuers to go with? I am looking at some House Of Kolor chips and like the Shimirin Kandy base coat in their green. Have you ever used any of their paints?
my wife wants the 72 project to be british racing green. i searched the web and found a lengthy discussion on different greens on a tr6 site. this guy went thru about a dozen formulas before he found a green that didn't have a yellow or a blue tint in daylight. it's on my home computer, and i'll post it tomorrow.
Thanks for all the input fellow members. I have about narrowed it down to somewhere along the lines of dark bowling green/polo green and fairway green. I am not 100% set on either one of these and am going to look at paint chips closer to time.
I found a guy in my area that was recommended by someone at an automobile museum to do my paint. He told me that he would go over what I have done with 600 grit and check it and then shoot bc and 2 coats of clear, cut that and then shoot 3 more coats of clear and cut and buff. He quoted me a price of 1500-1800 dollars minus cost of paint. Does this sound reasonable?
Please keep on posting the pics of your cars and I appreciate your help and opinions.
here's my possibilities:
dupont 8450
mazda miata 1991-1999 british racing green
2001 corvette dark bowling green code #91
1972 elkhart green #946
these supposedly don't have a blue or yellow tint.
we'll see!
