Planning to seal and block my 76. It was mahoganey mettalic. with firethorne interior. Other than Silver , Mahogany, White or Black, what color suggestions would you have that match the interior? Im thinking Black Cherry.

That sounds good...but you may also look at some Brandywine colors and see if they work with the interior also. Also Silver with some red/purple and or blue pearl added to the basecoat to give it a cast of the firethorn color in the paint. I have a paint service in my shop where sometimes become the "mad scientist" and come up with some wicked colors.

I like the idea of adding something to a silver. Gonna check into it. It tough because once you think you know what you want and pay for it its a done deal. If it doesnt turn out the way you like its more cash to get there. I have to be on a tight budget. Thats the reason Im doing it myself.

I understand. But you can still get a color that is "in the family" and modify a very small amount. Shoot a test panel and see if you like it. The color does not have to be the exact shade. Just one that gives you the effect. many body shops have formulas for 1/4 pint. And like I have done in the past to get something close. In the formula..I just move the decimal point over to the left...one number and now I have a tenth of the amount...and a formula which is close. SO if the formula had 115.2 grams of silver. I would put in 11.5 grams. This will get you a color that is close for testing.

I did my wifes Mitsubishi that way. The car was factory black and I added purple pearl to the color and shot test panels. adding a little more pearl to each mix. She had four test panels to choose from and each were dsifferent due to the pearl. Some barely noticable...and some that were very noticable.

This way you dont spend alot of money on a color that is not right.
