Default Rallye wheel cap lettering "weak"

I finally found 4 wheel caps from a mid-seventies Corvette. I pretty much believe the guy I bought them from and they're close enough for my 1971 plus the price was good. But my question is: what's a good method for refreshing the "CHEVROLET MOTOR DIVISION" letters and the two rings? Or should I leave them be?

Your call whether to repaint or not... I use Testor's model enamels and a toothpick for the words, a small square cut artist's brush for the "slats". Dab drops of paint into the letters... it will flow out to fill. Don't worry if you miss a bit or overfill an area; a fingernail scraped across the "oops" will remove the overage. I recommend doing this after lunch so the coffee is worn off, and before happy hour... one drink and I am "mellow", after that my perception (and patience) wanes. Steady hands and walk away at the first sign of increased heart rate or face flushing... finish later.

Another quick trick. Using hand lotion wipe all the silver area carefully. You can use a q-tip.Cautiously not getting lotion in the area to be black. Tape and cover the lower half with newspaper and spay lightly with Krylon until lettering looks nice. Let dry. Using a tissue after completely drying, wipe the silver area and the lotion will allow the black to wipe right off. It will shine and look good.
