Just saw this post for the first time and you did a great job! I doubt it would have looked any better if you had it done! Please post more pics when you are all done! My neighbors don't like my back yard paint booth either

Hey thanks again guys. I'm getting real close to having her all back together. I re-installed the rag top and deck lid this weekend. The interior is almost finished and the engine bay is done. The engine and trans are all done and ready to stab back in. The side pipes are here and the wheels are on the way as we speak. Next is a new rear mono spring and hanging the doors. I'm shooting for early May!

Saturday I went to ATL and bought the tires for the vette and had them mounted on the new TTII's. ( I know..I Know...)
Sunday I put in the new 360# VPB rear mono spring. It dropped it down pretty far, but I still have to drop it another 1 1/2 inches in the rear. I also droppped the engine in. I had a hell of a time with the new solid motor mounts. Even with the engine in, it still sits way too high on the front. I'll have to put everything else on and then cut the front springs. Here's a few pics from Sunday.
Trying to get it ready for the CF Cruise to Bolingreen in May!!!

Great job
I am interested in your paint booth. I may attenpt to paint my vette in my attached garage.
Is your garage attached? How were the fumes?
Do you think that another filter would have worked to reduce the exhaust and not make your neighbor cranky?
What did you use for the frame on the booth?

Yep - I got really lucky. I was also able to put the doors back on without banging up the paint except one tiny tiny spot that I can touch up. A buddy of mine helped out and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought.

It's looking damn good, that's for sure - makes me jealous Good job (or luck, who cares) that the headlight doors didn't give you any grief

sperkins, please tell more about your exhaust filtration system and over spray. How much of your righteous red color was coming from your HVLP gun, escaping the garage and offending your neighbor? My garage doesn't have a window, so I'd need to put a box fan under the open garage door. With 20-30 feet seperating homes, I wouldn't want to be paying for additional paint on houses and cars. These issues are keeping me from doing any painting at home. Very nice job and thanks foir sharing!
does your garage door have windows? I once replaced the garage window with a box fan and put a 20X20 pleated paper central A/C filter.
It worked like a charm.

Scott, looks great, congrats on doing it yourself.
Is that my old motor after the rebuild? If so, great job. I hope that all worked out for you ok. Looks mean.

That's funny. I actually considered building a permanent paint booth for side jobs because it was so much fun. Here's a couple of pics of my second paint job for my father in law:
Thanks Joe. Yep that's the ole 327 a little hopped up. Full roller too. I am dying to fire her up.
Thanks man. I used Southern Polyurethanes "Universal clear". It really is a nice clear and so easy to apply.
