Default Finally found one…

Little backstory, I have loved corvettes ever since I saw them as a kid, didn’t see them much here in Eugene where I grew up in felony flats, but when I did I always loved the styling and everything about them. C1’s and 2’s are my favorites, and I owned a 77 C3 for a while about 15 years ago (I was born in the mid 70’s) but with kids and life and bills (the wife doesn’t work) it was tough to justify or afford what I really wanted. But I decided to look for a Z06 as I liked the styling of the Z’s in particular. So for a long time I set my sights on a C5 Z06. I had been looking for a while, but unfortunately I’m a bit picky and nothing materialized, especially up here in the PNW. Then prices on all of them went way up so I kinda stopped looking hard.

Fast forward to about a month ago, when I got lucky (I think) and saw a C6Z listed on Facebook marketplace in PDX at a reasonable price. It was part of an estate as the owner had passed away and his daughter and her husband were the executors. I drove up and looked at it right away on the weekend and put down a deposit. One of the reasons I thought it was a good buy is that it came with a bunch of parts as well, which I am now going to list on the C6 parts classifieds to raise money to have the heads done as they haven’t been addressed. The transaction took a while as the paperwork was a bit complicated due to the estate factor but I finally brought it home at the end of last month. Its a driver, which is what I wanted, and it’s not pristine but I think it is in good shape. Bonus is that back in 2012 it had a bunch of custom work done to it at Wong’s to include headers, CAI, tune, race tech race brakes front and rear, Katech spoiler, duct work, fascia reinforcement, and ZR1 splitter etc. (on a side note I contacted Tom Wong to inquire about the car and the work done to it and he has been super helpful, patient, and prompt with his replies, a class act.) It also has exhaust work, and appears to have a muffler delete. Its loud to say the least, but I really like the sound. It’s not my first choice of color, but I do like it.

Its a 2010 Cyber Gray C6 Z06, 3LZ with 61K miles on it. I’m hoping to make a few minor style improvements after I address the heads, but for now I am thrilled. I am usually very busy at work, but I am hoping to get out and attend some gatherings at some point. Big thanks to the forum for being a great resource for information, pricing, etc. See you out on the road!

That is a sweet Z. If you're not working on Saturday mornings, come out to the Starbuck's in Junction City for Cars & Coffee. Meet some of the members of Cascade Corvette Club.

Very nice car, I'm sure you will have many happy miles in it.

I had the same identical car, color included but mine was a 2009. Never had any kind of problems with it and I doubt you will have any with yours.

Congrats on your newly acquired Z06! I've always liked that color - have you ever done any track days (high performance driving events or HPDE)? Those are a great way to really get to know your car and have fun in a relatively safe environment, especially with PIR just up the road from Eugene.

Nice car, enjoy. Tom does excellent work, I have had him do some work for me in the past, so if you do the heads, he will do a good job for you.
