Ordering a new Corvette
My question is: If I was to order a C8, does it matter which dealer you order it from, and why? Do dealer allocations matter to be able to get what I want in a timely manor? (Yes I realize it could take a year). Do I go to my local dealer that may only sell 1-2 Corvettes a year, or do I go to a dealer that sells a lot of Corvettes every year? Hope some of you can answer these questions. Thanks in advance!

Allocations is a big thing. The big boys get cars first and the little guys wait. When I bought back in 12 I sent letters to big and small, local and distant and did not go with the lowest price but close. I went with one that had a personal tie with the factory back east and have to tell you I have never even been to the dealership in Maryland. I picked up the car in Bowling Green and every bit of that experience GM and the museum put on the dog for me and a few others. It was one day after the public could go on tour of the factory but trust me six of us did. Thats having pull! That same pull with the big dealers will get your car sooner and then the new C7 would be coming out hence closing the tours as production was still going for the C6 but parts of the factory already closed off with plywood. Some of the local dealers did not make a bid but stuck me with sales people that knew less than I did. A far away dealer can have the vehicle drop shipped to local dealer for prep and delivery. I had a month and a half of driving before taking the MSO to the auditor and getting Washington Plates and of course the sales tax. By then the car had a pretty good tour of a lot of states in the rear view mirror. Yes I would deal with any of the dealers that support this forum I think any would have a good allocation and treat you good. Do your homework so you know what you want. My only mistake in ordering was something called a D30 which they can charge for because I wanted slightly out of ordinary and I did not know that took a D30. Good luck with your new car.

Contact Mike Furman at Chriswell Chevrolet. He is the #1 salesman in the world for Corvette and will get over 400 allocations for 2021. For a $1000 deposit you will be added to the list. When the allocations come out next month, I’m hoping to be somewhere in the spring or summer for mine.
Good luck.

It’s all about allocations. When the 01 Z06 came out demand was up. Allocations were based on previous Corvette sales. Some dealers got more, some got less, and a few got none but took deposits anyway with the hope and expectation they could get one from another dealer which most often didn’t happen, Much the same thing happening now with the C8.

I purchased my first corvette in 2006 and my second in 2016. The first was a museum pickup which was great. The second was from the dealer which was also great. Both were ordered from Ken Fichtner. He is easy to work with and no BS. What Ken tells you is what will happen. He recently took over a new dealership so his allocations may be low again but as a dealer he is highly rated on this forum, in fact he is one of the original folks who started this forum. Good luck with your purchase.

I read a list of 2019 Top 100 Corvette Dealers in USA. Good Chev/Renton WA was only WA State Dealer....
Do any of you experienced buyers have opinions on Puget Sound Dealer You would request your
courtesy delivery be done at and at what cost (ie $500???)
Is there just NO WAY you'd order directly From GOOD for fear of not receiving your order
or being jacked around with the total cost upon delivery ?????

Got my c8 in late July after a 15 month wait (vin is in the high 2000s). Allocations matter. This was my 2nd time dealing with Macmulkin which is the 2nd largest dealer for corvette. Always MSRP, always my easiest car purchase ever. This time courtesy delivered in enumclaw (400$) as the local dealers didn’t want the business (I live in Bothell) I would always go with macmulkin if I can. Highly recommended!

Keith,
I put my deposit in last December with MacMulkin and will get an allocation matched to my order in May. It's an MSRP deal, no BS. I plan on doing a NCM delivery and driving it back home. You might also give MacMulkin a call as well. They are getting 160 allocations per month these days.
Good luck.

Good choice Steve, they have a great rep and ship nationwide. The NCM pickup is a bucket list and we enjoyed it when we picked up our C6 back in 2006.
