As an out of state resident, you don't have to pay the CA sales tax. But you will have to pay WA's when you register it here.

Remember, these guys sponsor a Corvette club
Either the car or the salesman will be gone soon.

I was going to order through Boardwalk but was told (by Tim himself) that if the car hit the CA roads (as in "drove it off the lot"), tax has to be paid. The only way around that was either a courtesy delivery or having it trailered up here.

I ended up ordering through a dealer in northern Idaho, got $3K off MSRP (Boardwalk would have been MSRP) and that was that....

Actually when I bought mine in 2007, I just had to pay Washington upon registration in Washington. guess you can't do that now? Ken.. Just noticed you live in Oregon where they choose to pay taxes in other areas instead of sales tax so this would probably work against an out of state purchase

I'm surprised at that Roger - I bought my car at Boardwalk right before you did, and I had to pay sales tax in CA - Boardwalk always enforced that on cars picked up in CA.

But for many of in WA, that isn't a big deal.... King County's sales tax is usually higher than Redwood City, CA.

Issaquah, Kirkland, Bellevue: 9.5%
Redwood City: 9.0%

We are shopping for a Vette for my wife and saw this:

Nice looking car for sure. Good luck with whatever you decide.

This was from the sales manager of our club's sponsoring dealership.
That sponsoring dealership is a rip off. They want as much for a used Vette as you can buy a new one for. Most of the
Pacific Northwest dealers over price everything they sell. Your dealership isn't where I would call the Pacific NW, but they are in the NW, the honest part!

That's the same car I looked at in Monroe. A dealer in Vancouver also has one. I actually decided to keep my c5 for now.

However, the wife and I have been considering waiting for the 2015's and order one with the museum delivery.

I hear they are discontinuing the lime rock green for 2015! Went to Willamette Valley Corvette meeting last night and 2 of the C6 members have ordered C7s. Darn we won't be the only C7 there anymore (well for a few months anyway)!

Hey, here's an idea....why don't you just buy one and take your own!

And BTW, you wouldn't need to sleep in if you got to bed a little earlier.

I realize you guys are talking new C7's here but back when I bought my '09 3LT base vert, I started looking nationally after getting tired of dealing with the local stealership pricing.

We flew Alaska Air one way to Los Angeles for ~$100/pp and bought the '09 for ~$4500 less than the local salesholes wanted.

Instead of racing home with the car, we enjoyed Disneyland and an amazing 3 night trip back to Washington via the 101 with stops in San Francisco and Coos Bay.

Yes....CA collected their sales tax @ ~7% and then I had to pay the difference on WA sales tax @ ~2% (9.whatever% in WA).

So you saved on the sales price but paid 9% taxes. How much did you "net" save???

As I've already stated.....I paid ~$4500 less for the car and therefore tax was not collected on ~$4500.....you can do the math.

I see you're from Oregon....we have sales tax in Washington.

It seems strange that you have to pay the CA sales tax on a new car if you buy in CA and take it to another state to license, but if you buy a used car through a private party in CA, you don't pay CA sales tax.

I bought my C5 from a forum member in CA and all I had to do was to pay the "use tax" when I licensed the car in WA. It was the same dollar amount as if I paid sales tax in my city.

At our May club meeting last week, a member showed up with a new Premier Edition Lime Rock Green C7 he had bought a few days earlier. To me, it looked a lot like the old Polo Green Metallic but with not as much metallic in the paint. The seats looked really comfortable but the brown color didn't really set off the paint like the light tan did with the Polo Green.

Of course, everyone commented about the tail light design, but what does everyone think about the amber rear turn signals? That's a first for Corvette and I think it makes the whole tail lamp deal even worse.

The way it was explained to me was if I drove the car off the lot, I had to paid the tax. If I had it trailered off the lot, I wouldn't. Guess they were being literal about driving it on CA roads

As for the tail lights, et al.....I recently saw a Camaro and it had Corvette tail lights!
