Congratulations on the Shark Grey ...errr Cyber Grey C7?

I thought you couldn't get pulled over for lack of front plate as it's a secondary offense, meaning they have to have a reason like speeding to pull you over and then can write you for both.

Maybe it's only in Idaho and WA is different. Anyone know for sure?

I wish it were that way. AFAIK, and based on my experience, they (some?) LEO's consider having no front plate a primary offense.

I was ticketed in Federal Way a few years ago for no other reason than not having that front plate on my C5. But since having my C6 these last 2 years I've never been bothered and I drive by police officers all the time both in FW and in Tacoma.

Maybe I've been lucky or that one cop retired. Who knows?

Recently a representative of the Redmond Police Department stopped by Barrier Motors to let us know that Bellevue, Redmond, Snohomish, and Kirkland police departments will no longer be flexible regarding vehicles without the front license plate installed. Currently, Washington State law requires license plates to be prominently displayed on the front and rear of all vehicles. While this law has been in place since 2011, it has not, until now, been strictly enforced.

As part of Mercedes-Benz of Bellevue's commitment to do more for our customers, we wish to make sure that all our customers are aware of the importance of the front license plate. From this point forward, if your vehicle does not have a front plate you will receive a $124 ticket.

Sincerely,
Mercedes-Benz of Bellevue

I guess this is fair warning.....I'm going to get mine on before RTC on the 5th.

Yep you don't need another ticket for that...

A lot depends on the location. Tacoma is very strict on enforcement of front plate reflectivity compliance. Now that I work there, I had the remote controlled show-n-go front plate mounted. When I'm not around Tacoma, it tucks under the front. Touch the button, and it pops up into place. So I'm "mostly" in compliance nowadays.

While we are on the subject. Why does this state have a Gross Weight Fee on every car ? We also have a (don't shoot me) PriusV and it has a Gross Weight Fee of $25.00, what a crock of ****.

Because they can. Supposedly it's for a car's share of using the roads. And now that King, Pierce and Snohomish counties can add on a 0.8% fee based on the vehicle value for the Sound Transit debacle, you can expect renewals back up in the high hundreds of dollars. KOMO ran an article last night that showed a Telsa owner getting hit for over $1500 for his car.

I am so glad I don't have to put up with that **** . Out here in the boonies, the basic renewal is under $50.

Heard someone on the radio this morning complain that the tabs for a typical car valued around 10K is now around $150. I wish my tabs were only going to cost $150 per car. Where is Tim Eyman when you need him.

Next up income tax.

At least all the services provided by the state are going to be improved which will make all of our lives much better than they are today.

Discuss?

If everyone that owns a house and a car were to wait till the new after March 2017 tab bills are sent out... and then put the Sound Transit Tax up for vote again it would be voted down with a big NO Vote. Most people had no idea of the cost impact to their own finances.

I've been driving sports cars in Washington State for 32 years. Got one "no front plate" ticket the week I arrived here driving my 1984 Porsche with no front plate. The back plate, however was a California plate and that is what caught the officer's attention. I'll take my chances. I think the front license plate ruins the look of the C7 grill.

Regarding the new Sound Transit tax, I bought my 2017 Z06 and closed the deal on 12/31/2016 so I missed the pleasure of paying the new tax. Can't wait for next December! Gotta love King County voters.

I have never run front plates on my various Corvettes for 32 years, and have yet to be stopped for it...Seattle police now have the goofy Mayors problems to keep them busy!

The Snohomish County voters aren't much smarter. I think the large renter population that doesn't pay property tax helped push ST3 through. My property took the biggest hit ever and I have lived here all my life. My car tab renewals will be the next shocker.
