Why was the answer pointless? He is right; a $10K C5 is going to require some work to make it a nice car. Anything from paint, to engine or trans work or interior work. Some of these cars may need tires, brakes, suspension, or exhaust. That stuff ain't cheap.
Have you looked in the C5 For Sale section? You'll find that prices for nice C5's will start around $15K and can easily reach $25K for really premium cars. The only C5 posted there at a $10K asking price doesn't have an engine.
You will also find that most people who post here do know something about local and even regional markets. Some PNW members have bought and sold C5's. And some may have done that more than once.

I think the point to be made here is that the truly great cars, be they Corvettes, Ferraris, Porsches or any other marque that is popular enough to engender a club to be formed around them, will change hands privately. Usually, at least in my experience, they will trade at premium prices and well worth it.
That's not to say you can't find a $10K C5, but I would be very wary. If you have the skills and talent to take a car with "issues" or requiring some work to bring back to the condition you prefer, then that's great. I wish I had the time and talent to be able to do that.
Happy hunting - which can be fun it itself - but please don't get confused over, say, dealer ads or distress sales suggesting there are some screaming bargains everywhere you look.
Let me add, since I''m rambling on, as usual (I need to get a job) that I think the Kelly Blue Book, NADA and other price guides are reflective of dealers activity or auction sales. They may not reflect the prices of cars that sell privately.
So, if it seems like you've been getting some pushback in terms of your search for the elusive $10K C5, don't give up, but be aware that you may have a long search ahead of you. Have fun at this, but don't take issue with the people on this forum. They are only trying to help.

If the car checks out okay, then so much for the notion that a C5 can't be had for $10K.
I notice the house in the background doesn't seem to have a garage. Wonder if that's the seller's residence or simply the nicest hom.... okay, let's not go there either.

You guys are sure skeptics. Here I find the OP his dream car for under $ 10K and all you do is make wild comments about the car and the seller. It is on Craigslist. How could you not believe it????
And those wheels and tires add so much to the cars appearance. Who would not want to own a set? Why, I might just go up tomorrow just to buy the wheels and tires for my Z06. I bet that would really make it stand out.

actually it looks nice. Not many orange C5s around. But, yes those are about the ugliest wheels I have ever seen. Offer him $9,000 and tell him you will give him back the wheels when you get decent ones!
