I did.. it was a blast! My second serious track day with the Z06, I managed a 1:56.1 as my best time (still learning the car). I must admit I was a bit disappointed at the lack of track time though.. only got about 90 minutes of driving in total.

gopro mounted on the tail..

Nice video of where you've been. Did you get 3 or 4 sessions ? Was there a HOD c7 there?

HOD was well organized but with very little driving time. I honestly don't know if I want to do another HOD event because of the lack of track time; it felt like we spent a lot of time just sitting around. The event was also run a bit differently from other events I've done before such as Turn 2 and Proformance. Not better or worse, just different.

There were four run groups. I got about three solid sessions of 20 mins each - that's it. We went out for a short warm up run in the morning, then two sessions - one of which had an incident - then 1.5 hours lunch - and then two more sessions. very little track time. Luckily the sessions I did get were mostly clean without much traffic. However one suggestion I have for them is to stagger the release of cars. They just let the entire train go off at the same time which meant a traffic jam - I usually held off and went towards the end which helped me get atleast a few laps in before catching up to traffic. I prefer how T2 staggers cars onto the track vs letting everyone on at the same time.

yes the HOD C7 was there and folks were lining up for test drives on the track. I didn't because I'm not really interested in the C7 and don't really like its back end a lot .. plus my Z06 is heavily modded and a dream to drive

Thanks for the info. I am doing turn 2 next Friday and Saturday and then may 2; at the Ridge. Staying overnight at little creek casino. Wife joining me Fri night at casino for Kelly pickler concert. Then off May 9 for Vegas for 6 days including 2 at spring mountain for level 2 Ron Fellows class. Should be toasty by then.

some footage from a blended view front+rear. You can see that I'm missing apexes by a mile and only using 3 and 4. Still learning the car, Next time I plan to go down to 2 at turn 11, and be in second gear coming out of 16.. I need to improve T14-15-16 sequence, lots of time to be had there.

HOD runs 4 groups at most events...each group gets approx 110 minutes on track. Unless one of the sessions is shorten due to an incident on track, then the time lost is spread amoung all groups so no one group takes the full hit on time lost. HOD limits the number of cars on track to maximum of 25 per group...this gives each group some running room. Staggering may make some sense, but there are downsides to staggering the release as well. Thanks for the comments. If you get a chance drive the C7 at another HOD event....your comments on the car would be appreciated.

Hi Tom! Yep, I can believe the weather coming up. Tough sitting on the sidelines. We're doing a re-fi and putting a new roof on the house so its going to be a while yet before I can get out there. Wouldn't know anything about roof's would ya? LOL...

I plan to be there on Friday at the Ridge with turn 2. Getting my C7 track prepped tomorrow; have 2100 miles on it now
changing oil to 15-50W Mobil 1 ,brake flush with DOT4 ATE, changing brake pads to carbotech 10y, 8Y and installing rotor rings.
Should be fun.

Local weather for Shelton can be very different than the rest of Puget Sound. I can leave Olympia when the sun is out and get to Shelton where it's raining. Or the other way around.

Locally, the weekend forecast is for occasional showers and sunbreaks. Temps in the mid-low 60's. But keep checking daily as the weather forecasts around here can quickly change.

Ridge Motorsports Park Z06 - April 11th 2014 HOD - YouTube
Just watched your video; great angle. I know it will require you to be very brave (which I'm not) with all that power and speed carried into and out of corners, but I think (and I'm sure you know as well) that you can brake much later. I know it's easier said than done, but those StopTechs + ST43 + brake ducting + competition tires will take the beating with no fuss. In the process, it would also create an exhilarating video Keep 'em coming and have fun! I love how LS7 sounds.

I'll also be at the Ridge this Friday, but with the Miata. I am still not supercharged, but I worked on the aero a little bit; we'll see what the impact will be. Turn2 has another event at the Ridge 2 weeks from now, I hope you guys can make it to that one!

I'd also love to go to PIR. I attended the Chump car race last year at the PIR, and that track was more fun than I thought. I can't do it on May 5th, but will try to find a day that works.

Totally agree with you on how far I can go on brakes - I'm just taking it slow since I am running with TC and AH off. However the car with coils, sways and alignment now feels very well balanced and predictable. Ofcourse, the power was always there but the throttle on this car is so perfect, I felt I could be very controlled with it thus minimizing the chance of a spin. Though I did go sideways once when I got too aggressive going downhill on T13.

T13-15 is a hard section to master and I totally suck at it (along with a whole bunch of other turns )

Hope you had fun with Turn2 this friday, the weather was perfect. Unfrotunately I couldn't attend. Post up some MX5 videos I'm sure the track rats here won't mind

I'm going to PIR this Monday May 5th - and then my next event is Proformance at the Ridge on May 18

See you soon!

Mike, I know a little about roofs! Give me a call and I will see if I can hook you up!

The event on Friday was perfect! Great weather and great people. Turn2 will be out on May 16th and 17th at the Ridge again. The 17th is sold out in the B and C groups, but there is a little room in the A group. Good Times!

You were looking good in the C7 Pete! A lot of people are asking if I know how well they are performing. Just haven't driven one yet to find out...

Just wanted to get the "feel" of this car. Now off to Spring Mountain later this week for a real immersion. More turn 2 when I return.

Next Friday, Turn2 has a special track day at the Ridge. The Puget Sound Road Racing Association which runs go carts at the track has asked to have Turn2 to split the day with them. So, this will be a special day where there will be experienced drivers and open wheel cars. This will be a very interesting day for sure! Did I mention lots of seat time? Luckily, the weather looks good for Friday. Not so much for the rest of the week.
