Spring is right around the corner so who wants a Supercharger? If you've never driven a car with a supercharger you'll be BLOWN away at the feeling... once you've driven a car with a supercharger you won't go back to a NA car

From your experience .... what are the pros/cons of the different types of supercharging setups for a daily driver LS1?

My 02 has a Vortec S-2 supercharger. It was on the car when I bought it and I wasn't really sure if it was something I really wanted. After something like 5 years of ownership, I will say it is a fantastic mod to have. Tons of power when you want it but otherwise it drives just like any other stock C5.

The car has dyno'd at 443 HP and 402 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels. That's probably something like 510-520HP at the crank?? The package includes a water-cooled intercooler, 42-lb injectors and a custom SuperChips tune. There is also a Corsa Indy Pace Car exhaust, X-pipe and a Breathless cold-air intake. Boost is limited at 7 psi which helps keep the bottom end together. But for some reason the rear tires don't last as long as the front tires....

The thing that is nice about the whole package is that it's very docile around town and freeway cruising at 75 or so in 6th gear with cruise control provides a honest 32 MPG.

Supercharger costs can be pricey especially if you aren't doing the install and tune yourself. But Tom Wong could certainly handle that type of work.

Let break it down for you.... There are basically 2 types.... roots/ twin screw and centrifugal superchargers.

Twin Screws/ Roots Style-
*Offer great low end tq that kicks in at about 2500RPM
*Will NOT fit under a stock hood for a C5
*Usually costs more than a Centrifugal
*50 State Emissions legal kits available
*Offers stock like drive ability and does not hurt MPG

Centrifugal
*Generates more HP at the the higher RPMs
*Costs less than Roots style
*50 State Emissions legal kits available
*Much cheaper than Roots style
*Fits under a stock hood
*Offers stock like drive ability and does not hurt MPG
