Default Biting the bullet...

Well....after a few months of kicking the idea around, I'm going for it.

As I have my '07 pretty much cosmetically modded the way I want, there are 2 thing I've been wanting to do and I've decided to go for it.

1) GS front fenders and nose
2) Change the paint from black to Jetstream Blue

(will be done in plenty of time for all the upcoming Show & Shines!)

This is how it currently looks

If I didn't have so many other expensive things to maintain, I'd do several things to my Corvette, but I'm just spread too thin. I just have to realize that it may never happen.

The GS fenders (front and rear) replicate the Z06 appearance.

I'm wondering how it would look with just the front fenders as you say and not the rears?

The GS fenders have" gills" whereas the Z06 fronts don't (either love 'em or hate 'em!).

Personally, I think the widebooty does much more for the looks of the car than do the front fenders - the base C6 rear is pretty anemic looking IMHO...

Amazingly inexpensive to do, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it

(yea I know.. "inexpensive" is pretty relative)

I'll trade your fender/paint job for our 36' Grand Banks maintenance job.

Ya know..there was a time I would have killed for a Grand Banks (love those trawlers). Ended up with a Catalina 36 and was happy about the decision (lots of bluewater fun with that boat!)

OK, now that the link is working I see you already have the widebody rear fenders.

Well, since you asked... you did ask, didn't you?

Either way, I think this is a bad idea. Especially the color change. To do it properly is going to cost you (IMHO) more than it would cost you to simply buy an '08 or later JB car, using the '07 as a trade-in. Besides, in '07, I believe black was the top selling color, which should enhance trade-in value.

Why the GS fenders and not the ZO6?

I don't have a good feeling about this and if I was shopping for a used C6 would avoid this (once modified) like the plague. Everything you're planning to do cries out, "run away" to a lot of potential buyers.

But, if done right and makes you happy, go for it. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, sure, NOW I find out about the boat. Being the great "mooch" I am and in view of my other friend selling his Grand Banks 42, well, I'm really sorry to learn about yours in this most public manner.

Sounds like a nice boat - maintenance notwithstanding - and perfect for where you live.

You know, I could have a Grand Banks too, but I really don't want one. Neener neener.

(I'll watch for your PM letting me know when to report to the dock for a 3-hour cruise.)

Absolutely! Getting others' input is never bad, right?

Part of my decision is based on the fact that I have this one pretty much modded as I want. From the iPod interface to the interior upgrades to the widebody butt (and the sound system upgrades), I'd have to duplicate most of them on a "new" car.

That's easy- the GS aren't carbon fiber as are the Z06 ones. I.E... less than half the price. Although I have to say I'm still not 100% decided on the fenders as there's a Forum Vendor who makes a Z06-style front bumper/splitter that works with the stock C6 front fenders.

I don't disagree overall with this but this WILL be done correctly. The paint shop I'm going to use I trust implicitly, as they've done work for me in the past AND they also do Vette restorations. And my cost is VERY reasonable for the job

If you remember Patrick's (Rogue C6) highly customized base C6, he did a BEAUTIFUL job on it and it was absolutely stunning. He had no problem selling it. Although I don't plan on selling mine anyway.

Ken

I've not seen your vette before. I really like the looks of the interior. The first line of your mod list indicates that the F55 is upgraded. What did you do to it?

Who are you planning to use for the color change?

Do you plan on having the base black paint taken off or are you going to paint over it?

(If you have it painted Polo Green I'll buy it from you when you're ready to move on to the next one)

Default Wow

I can see the GS front Love the fenders, but a color change, thats something new, but of course I love the black, maybe a two tone, really make it stand out, and jet stream top with black bottom, that would POP,

best of luck post photos of the progress,

JC

I don't exactly know as I bought it that way. However, the RPO's show it came from the factory with F55 so I'm not quite sure.

DB Customs in Newberg.

Good question, I didn't discuss that part. Although, short of some road rash on the rear quarter panels and some chips on the hood, the paint is in great shape. Minimum I would think the clear coat will be removed but I'll work out the details when I actually pull the trigger in the Spring (need about a month for the work to be done so I want to have it done in time for the show season )
