Hot August Nights
I know it is a little early, but is anyone thinking of making a run down to Reno in August. If so it would be a great oppertunity to caravan down and back.

Actually, I've long wanted to attend this event, but have heard of jacked-up hotel rates (to be expected, I suppose) some issues with vandalism or - I've long wanted to use this word - hooliganism. I'll watch this thread for more information.

we go down every year, this years event has been split in to three diff dates,
Long beach Ca is August 3rd -6th
Tahoe August 7-9th
Reno 9-14th
My husband & I have been going down since 2003, & with our classic since 2006 no problems with vandles or anything like that.
last year we did see a huge influx of gang members but they left us alone & most people left friday night/ saturday.
no matter what we normally have fun & end up meeting up with some guys on the forums somewhere. Last year we met up with the guys from LS1tech. at A&W & had a blast with them.
as for hotels, yes as the year progresses the prices get higher, but normally those of us that are there for the show with our cars we get discounts. & can book now.

the best drive, is to go i-5 until you hit Eugene then head east towards Bend & then head south to Klamath falls, stay the night & then head down to susanville & then hit Reno Noonish or early afternoon.
less trucks go that way, & you are high up in the hills so its not so hot & you can see some NICE Views as well.

Sorry I havent checked in for a while, the holidays and all were pretty busy. I am still interested in going down at least to Reno, I have friends that live there, so lodging would be easy. As we get closer I'll keep the thread going. Cheers

Just moved to McCall Idaho after 30+ years in the Reno/Tahoe area. I'll be headed down for both Reno and Tahoe HAN and going back for the Reno Air Races in September.
Kinda out of the way to head west then go south on I-5. Anybody heading down from the North/Central Idaho area (converge in Boise maybe...?) that would like to meet up along the way?

Wife and I leaving from Tacoma Aug. 6th heading toward Tahoe. Only going to Castle Rock that night if the weather is good the 6th for some National Motorcycle Dirt Track Races. If the weather is bad we will skip Castle Rock and continue on toward Tahoe. http://www.mshmc.org/home.html
Should end up in Reno the 9th.
