Speeding ticket prices in Montana
Got back from Montana last week. When I was there I went to work with my cousin a couple nights who is a Sheriff's deputy. I noticed his speeding ticket Bond sheet and had him get me a copy. I'm posting the prices for your amusment.
1-10 mph over $20
11-20 over $40
21-30 over $70
31 + over $100
Now correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't they just take you to jail in WA if you were going 31+ over?
Oh and BTW if you get a ticket in Montana it's perfectly acceptable to pay the officer cash for the ticket on the spot and go on your merry way.

Inflation has come to Montana or else I'm just getting very old because I can remember when the ticket you paid the officer was $5.00.
That was before the state had a speed limit and the law was (reasonable and prudent) at the discretion of the officer, the speed you were traveling, the traffic and weather conditions present and what it was you were driving.
For example, a Ford Pinto at maximum velocity running a space saver spare might get you the five dollar special .

Yeah, the good old days. I used to take my sport bike to MT from AK and go through tanks of gas at triple digit speeds and never had an issue with the local LEO's. As I recall the $5.00 fine was for waist of resources or some other humerus charge.
But a Benji for +31 and over. PRICELESS!

Yep. One of my reps was stopped on I-90 at 20 over a few years ago. Didn't have any cash, so he hopped in the Trooper's car for a ride to the nearest ATM. Withdrew the required amount ($28 for the speeding I believe), paid the fine and was on his way.
Said the Trooper was a nice guy.

Montana had to place speed limits on their freeways because the federal gubbmint threatened to take away federal highway funding if they didn't put speed limits in place. I think MT always had a nighttime limit but daytime was open.
Oregon didn't have speed limits on freeways back in the early 70's. I remember driving on I-5 through Oregon at speeds over 130 in my 70 big-block Corvette and passing state police cars. The officer just waved and I waved back.

Geez, too bad Montana is so far away. This is cheaper than a track day..

Probably, but you also get a license plate frame that reads "As Seen on Cops"
