I took my pretty much stock 99 coupe C5 to Woodburn Raceway in Oregon yesterday to make a few passes down the strip ... I was the only C5 there, but there were 2 C6's, both 2008's and both bone stock, one Black and the other Silver. The Silver C6 had the performance package and the Black one did not. The Black one had about 1500 miles on it while the Silver one had only 500 miles on it !!
So the Black C6 and I set up to race each other first, with my traction control ON I ran a 13.225 @106.90 to his 13.439 @ 108.77.
I had beat him, but he was trying different things out, he was trying to use his paddle shifters and shift thru the gears, he said he hit the rev limiter on each gear.
So then it was the Silver C6's turn and he ran a 12.496 @ 115. something.
The guy in the Black C6 was a little upset and said "I hope mine's not supposed to run that fast" The guy in the Silver C6 said "Yea, it is supposed to run that fast"
So after a little coaching from the Silver C6 guy on the next run I took my traction control OFF and I ran a much better 13.016 @107.20 but I lost this time to the much improved Black C6 time of 12.626 @ 115.60.
I don't know much about the C6's but what he did different this time is just leave it in "S" and let the car shift for you. "S" stands for "Sport" driving, it's like leaving the car in "D" but "S" is faster, shifts better, etc.
I made one more run of 13.20 @ 106.62 but the C6's kept running and I couldn't get their times.
All in all it was a really good day for all of us, the 13.016 time was my best ever, I'd really like to get into the 12's so I gotta work on something, but I didn't see what I could do that day to make it any faster so I stopped.
I didn't get the other guys names so I'm posting this in the C6 section.
If the auto guys can hit perfect shifts with there paddles they will be faster. Reason being you can hold the gear just a little longer. I never did get it perfect with my 06 but my best 1/8 was hitting it perfect on the 1st to second gear shift but I blew the 2nd to 3rd which is the easy shift.
Nice post Secret237, and very accurate also, which is appreciated. You're 99 is pristine, and Just a tick off your 60 foot time should get you into the 12s.
I'm black C6, and gave up on the paddles for my final run vs. silver C6.
We both ran with TC & AH off (competition mode), and used S automatic. We both had the stock runflats. I have the 2.56 standard rearend, and silver has the 2.73 rearend.
Silver Black
2.00 2.05 60 ft.
89.19 90.13 1/8 mph
12.526 12.488 1/4 sec.
114.46 115.25 1/4 mph
Silver spun worse off the line than I. Maybe that's the reason his time was slightly slower. I'm pretty sure he ran a 12.44 on one of his runs.
Judging from other posts I've seen on the forum using either S or D is faster than using the paddles at the dragstrip. I think its because there is too much lagtime between pushing the up button and the gears actually shifting...for instance when you were there I pushed the button at 6,000 rpm and it hit the fuel shutoff/rev limiter everytime. Redline is 6,600 rpm on the LS3.
Saturday, 3/29, is another test and tune at Woodburn. I plan to be there, and maybe experiment with shifting the paddles a 5,000 rpm. Hope to see you and the other guys who posted to your thread there.

Like I told Secret237, let me know when you go out next time and I'll bring my 08 manual
I'm planning to do another test and tune Saturday, 3/29. Tonight's weather prediction showed rain for Saturday, though. May have to get up Sat. morning and see if the day is going to be wet or dry.

If it's dry I'll go with you. I'll PM you my cell so we can talk on Saturday
