Default Tire Shops in Portland/Vancouver Area

Any recommendations on good tire shops in the Portland/Vancouver area that can repair Goodyear RunFlats, properly balance and not mess up the wheels. Got a screw in a rear tire at 2,500 miles.
Thanks for suggestions.

You could research on tirerack.com for their recommended installers in the area. Most of them, as I recall, around this area happen to be Goodyear stores. FWIW, I've had good experience with America's Tire (aka Discount Tire) in Tualatin, Or, but haven't thrown anything challenging at them. Good luck.

This won't be a popular response, but I did it on a rear C6 runflat and it worked just fine. If the pressure on the tire has never gone below about 10-15 psi, just buy a good tire plug kit and plug it yourself. I must have plugged over 10 of my tires over the past several years, including the Supercar rear on my C6, and they have never failed. The plugs or the tires. If you're going to the track on this tire I might have different advice (like buy a new tire), but for the street a properly installed plug seems just fine. (If the tire was run with 0 psi you shouldn't repair it.)

Yes, a mushroom plug installed by dismounting the tire from the rim is safer, but not by much. A mushroom plug's only advantage is a greater likelihood of a perfect moisture seal.

If you're uncomfortable plugging the tire yourself send me a PM. You can come over to my house this weekend and I'll show you how.

I have used Discount Tire in Beaverton many times.
They are very familiar run flats and showed great respect for my Vette.

Since this thread isn't dead yet I thought I would let everyone know what I did. Screw was removed and there was a very slight leak (checked with soap solution). I called the 800 number in the Goodyear brochure that came with the car. This number is supposed to connect you with the nearest Goodyear store that can service Goodyear RunFlats. I called the number and was connected to Les Schwab on Mill Plain east of I-205. They plugged and patched it and did not scratch the wheel but I did have to pay $15 for the repair.

I just bought new PS2's from the Tire Rack and I need to find a local tire store that can mount them. I don't trust anybody right now. I live in Hillsboro, OR.

Can anybody recommend a local shop for this? I was going to hit Les Schwab unless somebody has a better idea.

I like and use "American Tire" in Tualatin. They are very good, treated my vette and me fine while I was there.

I use AnT tire near PIR They are at 8131 N Interstate. Very knowledgable and although you have the tires, I bought some from Tire Rack and had them shipped directly to AnT as they are a certified installer for them. They service a lot of race cars and can do a great alignment for you too.
