hi all.... just curious of who all is planning on going on the '09 caravan to bowling green next labor day?? i've been on the '99 and '03 caravan and believe me if there's one caravan to go on in your life, plan on a natiional corvette caravan to b/g.... every nights stop going back is like a full blown corvette show at each hotel you stay in... when you start making reservations a year out you can pretty much count on being 98% corvettes at each hotel along the way.. the last two caravans, we took route 66 back and had a blast.... can't wait to do it again..... jim
We are.. however we're starting here and scooping up people along the way and actually joining the So Cal caravan. Had more fun than should be legal with those guys in 03
The Northwest caravan meets No. Cal at Salt Lake City. In `03 a small group split off at Ogden and went through Wyoming to Cheyenne then south to Denver were we met the main caravan again. Just something different, but I don't think I would do that again. It's more fun to stay with the main caravan.

Was that on Hwy. 6 through Helper and Price, joining I-70 at Green River? That is the route we took in `99. The first 40 miles or so was nice. Wonder which route we will take next year? The Caravan Captain is in our club, I will see what early info I can get from him.
I have some great stories from the two caravans we were part of. Like the two guys (wearing bib overalls) in a primer gray `61 who would stay up late drinking, leave late every morning and be the first ones at the next night's stop. We would hear that `61 coming before he passed us doing well over triple-digits. D**n, that car was fast!
Hope we can get together sometime and talk about how much fun we're going to have.

no, we took I-15 south then cut over to I-70, east to grand junction, then north to denver...

that sounds like a great idea.. it would be fun to tell some stories from the past caravans and what to do different this time around.... jim
I heard from the Northwest Caravan Captain today regarding the route. At this time the route is still in a holding pattern. He will be meeting with Utah, N. Cal. and Colorado reps at the up-coming C6 Bash in Bowling Green to work out some of the route details. Any route changes will need to be coordinated with those groups. Right now he thinks the route will be a re-run of `03. He is also worried that the number of participants will be down due to gas prices. Certainly a valid concern, but I plan on cutting back somewhere (lunches?) to save money for this trip.
How do you determine where to stay along the way....does everyone make there own reservations?
Yes, everyone is responsible for their own reservations. Some hotels do not accept reservations until after Jan. 1 and some are 12 months before. Best bet is to watch the Caravan page on the NCM website. Organizers of various caravans will list recommended lodging as near as possible to each nights event and base. As soon as those list come out is the time to get your group together and decide where you want to stay each night and get your reservations in as early as possible. All the recommended hotels will fill up fast.
