Default Video of New PIR

We drove the new PIR track this past weekend with Team Continental. A good group - and they provide free instruction.

I posted a video on youtube in case anyone wants a look at the new layout. While there are quite a few changes, I think you drive the track pretty much the same with the exception of turn 7 which everyone was trying to figure out.

The car screaming away from me is a very nicely modified C5 on slicks. Yes, Chuck, I know you are reading this.

Vey nice video.

So what's the best line for the new Turn 7? Looks like you pretty much went down the middle of the track from turn 6 before turning in.

The new surface looks nice and smooth too!

Nice video. Thanks for posting. You look pretty smooth!

I think there will be numerous PhD thesis candidates studying the correct line through the new turn 7. I have heard numerous comments that there is definitely a qualifying line and multiple race lines. All depends on how well your car brakes and accelerates.

I think most folks were taking the line on turn 7 that I was attempting. That is - track in about 1/3 from track left. If you look up you will be in a direct line with a small green building ahead. Then sight a very late apex and see how it feels. I believe I got it about right on the second lap in this video, at least it felt right and I was able to roll on a lot of throttle.

My instructor is a racer and he was not quite sure what the racing line will be - lots of room for passing in that turn.

yeah, thanks for posting that!! Nice driving, good line and control.

Yes, they really opened up the track on that 7 turn....kind of odd actually. Room for outside passing?? or run off for spins? or a place for slower cars to let faster ones around?....or all of the above?

It does look very smooth and was the dip eliminated coming out of turn 12 (old 9) onto the front straight?

Maybe I'll have to do the RCC track day this year.

Thanks again.

It looks like the same configuration to me. What did they change? The radius of the turn?

The whole thing is different, starting from the exit of turn 5. The distance from 5 to 6 has been shortened. The entrance to 7 is MUCH wider, It's also a MUCH, MUCH sharper turn, with only a 40' exit. The exit is straight, with a more pronounced left turn at 8 before going onto the back "straight."
