Greetings All: My wife & I have treated ourselves [25th wedding anniversary] to a near new 2002 C5 Red Coupe. Loaded local car with 908 miles on it. We pick it up on Friday and are looking for suggestions for the best drives. No freeways!! We might take 4-5 days and drive down the coast if the weather breaks, or head inland. I am also interested in what clubs are in Seattle or North.
Congratulations!! Going anyplace in your vette will be fun
The North Cascade loop is a very nice drive.
Also this Sunday, you might want to drive that vette down to Issaquah to the XXX Rootbeer stand for the all corvette show. There will most likely be several hundred corvettes there

If you leave the island on the Clinton/Mukilteo ferry, be very careful going on and off the ramp. Sometimes they do not adjust it right and you'll either high center or scrape your front end. Better to hit it at an angle, and don't be afraid to make the rest of the cars wait while you do this...I live in Manchester and have lots of ferry experience.

Enjoy your ride, and congrats!
You brought up a fear of mine. The ferry ramps!! Do you find it safer at a high tide? I am thinking of taking the ferry over to Port Townsend and doing the 101 ride to the coast.
the drive over to Winthorp is awesome.. just get on Highway 20 and head east.. (if your afraid of heights, DO NOT walk on the bridge to photograph Gorge Creek, your about 250 ft above the canyon floor on an open grate on the bridge)

It all depends on the ramp adjustment and it CAN be done correctly. I avoid Low tides for sure. In any event, if you think you are going to bottom out or high center, GO SLOW and make them get it right before you damage your car. I high centered on a high tide on the Edmonds side of the Edmonds/Kingston run because they had the ramp peak adjusted so badly. I was pissed, to say the least. Make them get it right.
HEY WHIDBEY ISLAND, YALL GOT ONE GREAT RIDE HAVE YOU DONE ANY TRIPS YET? THE STATE HAS SUCH VARIETY YOU CAN GO IN MOST ANY DIRECTION FOR A WONDERFUL TRIP. MY FAVORATE IS HWY 410 OVER CHINOOK PASS. DO IT SOON THOUGH, IT'LL BE CLOSING FOR THE WINTER. IF YOU NEED INFO ON GOOD EATS AND SUCH JUST LET ME KNOW - I'M A REGULAR TRAVEL AGENT FOR THE DRY SIDE AND LIKE TO MEET AND GREET ANYONE WILLING TO DO SO.
Congrats on the new vette! Based on the high centering discussion, I'd reccomend these or something similar. http://www.customcorvetteaccessories...protector.html Wont stop you from high centering, but will help prevent busted/scraped rockers. Mine have saved me.
