The buckets are light years ahead of the C8 “comp” seats and still totally streetable, headroom for days, and a real 4-point rollbar without killing the interior room.

There’s a market for a true GT3 RS version of the C8 if only GM would realise it.
Sadly all they seem to care mostly about is monetising their own crappy Infotainment system instead of listening to customers.

Exactly… there’s a big difference between “track capable” and a streetable trackday car.

You clearly don’t understand the point of this post and/or don’t go to the track. I want an OEM factory car I can do track events with no mods; GM won’t make one. They pretend to.

I especially love the headroom in my 911 being 6'4" and wearing a helmet I still have several inches to spare.

It is my understanding that Porsche (and perhaps other car manufacturers) do not offer a factory installed roll bar in new cars sold for the street in the USA, although they do in other countries..
There are aftermarket companies that sell a roll bar and quite a few that sell a harness bar for the C8s. My harness bar is from Paragon.
Lots of people say that want that, but very few would pay $300K+ for a (non- C8 ZR1) Corvette. Even the car magazines that rave about the GT3 RS criticize its ride and street characteristics on public streets and don't want to drive it for more than 1/2 hour at a time - on the street..

So install an aftermarket 4-point bar. I agree if you are tall you need an aftermarket seat to get additional head clearance. My C8Z has more head clearance than my C6Z had, both with stock seats. A full 6 point harness tightened down as it should be gets you an additional 1" and I find the stock seats are fine with the 6 point harness.

I am a big fan the GT3RS and love what Porsche has done. That said, I have good PDR video of me chasing down and passing that exact car at VIR in the fall (in fact, you can see it in my profile picture).
EDIT: Have fun and be safe. Can't wait for your report...

Have you driven a GT3 RS, on track, but especially on the street to see if it is reasonably tolerable for a half hour drive?
Yes, I know there are people that can own a $300K car like that just as a track day toy and have others prep it and deliver it to the track and a few of them are even willing to pay Pro drivers to coach them (that is a good thing). I am not one of them, but I can enjoy my C8Z on track days.

Gotta love posts like this, people think a Z06/Z07 is hard to get and are pissed about the ADM…………go ahead and try and get a 992 GT3RS anywhere near sticker if you aren’t a Porsche VIP………..
Here’s a “cheaper” used one, go get it!

Nice… but that’s a driver issue, not the car’s fault

I love the GT3RS but it's probably a pure bean counter issue, it just isn't worth it for GM to make such a niche version that only a handful of people would buy

You are saying excatly what I tell my buddies . This car is great BUT it is trying to be to many things. Really it fits two bags of golf clubs!
Its a F$%^ sports cars. You want golf clubs but a SUV..
My buddy has a GT3RS you are so in tune driving it, it is an extention of the driver.
I feel the connection with the car it is amazing.
The Z06 on paper is eqaual of even more, but that is on paper.
The real test is the confidense coming into a apex hitting it perfectly rolling the trotle and have total confidence what it will do.
My car is the size of my friends SVJ it a big car..

The two cars may provide a different driving experience but the fact it can closely match a GT3RS on track is a big leap forward.
You obviously have track experience that I do not so your words, as well as those of the OP and others who track, do carry more weight and it is appreciated.

As a previous owner of several Porsches including a GT3&4 this is an apples to oranges comparison. The full bucket are truly awesome seats but at almost $7k aftermarkets for our vettes seem a bargain. I had a full cage in my gt3 but remember it is based on a 4 seat arrangement with plenty of room for mounting. The structural stiffness of the GT cars, unibody, vs Vette, body on frame, big advantage Porsche. Obviously huge price point difference.

You are correct apples and oranges.

I expect there would be a market for it. Under 400k or so, I bet people would pay whatever price they put on the car.
Between the two, I like the Corvette better aesthetically. I do like the aero on the Porsche.
I hope you have a nice weekend and get some clean laps. I look forward to your report on how the car performs for you.
