Honda Type R
Spent the last few days contacting a bunch of Honda dealers within 200 miles of me trying to buy one of these. Plenty in stock, no shortages that I could tell. Am open to color options. I realize they are "hot" and was prepared to pay up to $3K over MSRP.
No dice, best price quoted to me was $58K. One place quoted $65K OTD. Been watching a few dealers and cars been sitting for 30 days or more.
Changed gears and hit up a bunch of Acura dealers on a Integra Type S. None would sell for less than $3K over plus a bunch of fees.
Hard to figure dealers out. Plenty of supply but the ADM is out of hand
OK, vent over

Haha yeah, good luck. Most people are paying $5k-$10k over. You say there is plenty of supply but that’s not accurate either. Most are already sold and the ordering lists are freaking long!

The last CTR was this way too. All the dealers wanted crazy money up front, and used ones sold for over MSRP usually.
Wait a year. They'll be at or below MSRP then, just like last time.

I owned a Honda Si before and it was a blast. But at 200 hp it just doesn't cut it in todays world. I been talking to 6 dealers within 150 miles of me who have new R's in stock. Maybe I'll get lucky in the next month or two before my ****** Jeep is built.

That really is crazy there are 6 dealers with them in stock. Happy to hear people aren’t paying the $10k-$15k markup! Hopefully in another year you’ll be able to find one at MSRP. You could look at the Integra Type-S. They can be had at MSRP for $51k-ish.

Ah I missed the Type S piece. The different markets are so weird. In Utah, the Acura dealers all told me MSRP and all the Honda dealers said $10k-$15k but no stock as all allocation is supposedly filled for MY23-24.

It's also entirely possible that those wheels.just weren't strong enough. Honda made a big deal about going with their oddball 21" wheel to control torque steer, i would not be surprised to hear they also wanted them to be light so they didn't get the strength needed. I think they were still cast.

Could be why the current Type R went to 19”s.

Beautiful color!
Interesting market. All the dealers I contacted told me how rare these cars are and how fast they sell. Yet they keep on bugging me 2-3 times a day to buy the one they have at their last offer. I did up my offer a little to $4200 over MSRP but no dice. Best counter was $7K over. Looks like it isn't going to happen

My patience paid off. A dealer I been talking to and who is reasonably close to me (3 hour drive) offered me a 23 white CTR for $51K including all fees, title, tags, etc plus sales tax. I pick it up late next week. I'm sure the seats will be tight for my 70 year old body but this car is for fun, not for long road trips so it will be fine. Am a little shocked at my choice as I never expected to buy another manual.

The msrp price listed doesn’t mean squat. I made over a dozen phone calls to learn that lesson. Try it yourself. At least 95% of dealers show the CTR for sale at MSRP. Once you call up you find it is a bait n switch.
