Porsche has never been on my list. When I was 18 (6'5") and tried getting in one, I realized then this car just wasn't built for me. I agree with some of the comments about looks and how very few cars can seemingly stand still over the years.

Both are awesome and it depends on your needs. The Sport Classic is a Turbo S with a manual, duck tail, and high end finishes. The S/T is a GT3RS with a manual and Touring bits.

Thanks, having access to neither, I just wondered. Seems like Porsche is slicing the various enthusiasts' market pretty thin, but it beats the he11 out of adding a couple stickers and calling it special.

Today fate allowed me to drive a 2022 (I think) 911 Carrera S. I must say that car was way too fine of a machine for caveman like me to be driving.

Technical and driving video of the 2024 911 S/T. Just over 3000 lbs curb weight. Lower gearing, several light weight improvements. As close to a perfect car as I've seen.

If I had unlimited funds, my garages would be filled with 911s of different vintages and types. Among other cars of course. They're awesome cars with a really unique driving experience..

No use for any 911s...

I just speced a bare bones 911T new. Comes in right around 130k. But getting an allocation for one that is bare bones and at MSRP would be a stretch. Porsche is basically an SUV manufacturer that dabbles in performance cars now.

My issue with Porsche is that everything is an expensive option. Was looking at a 718 Boxster vs a BMW Z4 M40i for my wife. The BMW fully loaded is $78k while a comparably-equipped Boxster is $116k and is slower in a straight line.

Haha no. A 718 Spyder isn’t comparable with the Z4.

The real perk of a 911 for me is my young kids can go in the back, so if I drove it to work, I could pick the kids up in a pinch. That's a big deal, because I end up driving my SUVs a lot more often than the vettes because I might have to pick up a put of the blue sick kiddo.

Porsche doesn't really compete with BMW, Merc, or Audi. People do probably cross shop them a little, but reality is if the price is at all a.factor, the Porsche isn't what you'd choose.
That said, even used 911s are crazy money..you use to be able to get 996s for next to nothing, and 997s were 30s and 40s for a 997.1 S manual with no history issues and a manual. That same car would lost for like 80k now.
