Anyone Looking at the New Lotus Emira?
I have been following the Lotus Emira role out. The car looks really promising, and the fact that it is as analog a car as possible given the market really appeals to me. But it is the fact that it offers a real manual that has me thinking. Currently on wait-list for the Z06 but still a bit conflicted on the DCT. Has anyone done a bit of research on the Lotus as well?

Supercharged V6 does not interest me. If it was twin turbo I'd be all over it.

a) it makes the same HP/liter as a 1993 Ferrari 348--where Ferrari was naturally asperated this Lotus uses a supercharger.
b) it is unlikely to be as reliable as a 1990 Ferrari {let that sink in for a while}
c) it still has a frumpy® look to the styling.
d) the only thing about it that makes it interesting is the manual transmission.

Nice car but it's not on the same planet as the Z06 from a performance perspective. Not a car that people would cross shop with a C8 Z06.

No doubt it's the better looking car (exterior), but that's about it.

The price per performance just isn't there for me. I'm sure its a great driving car, just not something I want to spend that much money on.

I'm wondering why this is in the Z06 forum.... This car can't compete with a C8 on any level let alone the Z06. Thread might look great in the other car section.

You would have to be a car masochist to buy a Lotus.

Several months back I called around Dallas and Houston to ask about ordering an Emira. They both said they had waiting lists that were full. I think it looks great but guessing it's about the same price as a C8Z with half the power. Not for me.
The supercharged V6 is based on a Toyota engine right? Id hope it would be more reliable than an old Ferrari!

Not necessarily true. I have a friend who got on z06 lists and the Emira list and was going to buy the first one that came up. He got the call about two weeks ago from his dealer that he is getting a first edition. So he is going with the Lotus. Not sure what he will do with the z06 lists he is on.

The weight is nice and it doesn’t look bad, but no way is it on the same level as the Z06 as I’d take a C8 Z51 over it.

Thought about it & quickly said hard pass, I'll stick with my C8Z.
Love Lotus cars, but the Emira just isn't enough car for the money IMO and it looks bland. The Elise & Exige look 10x better!
