Default 1965 Buick Skylark value?

Hey guys, Love my C2 but thinking of something with a little more room. Found this 1965 Buick Skylark convertible about an hour away. 300 V8, 4 barrel, power steering and top, rebuilt engine, new paint, new top, new interior. California car with no rust or damage ever. All stock except it originally was a 3 speed on the column but was converted to 4 speed with correct steering column etc. Really nice condition, no chips in the paint, engine compartment detailed. Ready to show. It was done by an older gentleman who owned a body shop and did it for himself. I know some of you are more knowledgeable about vintage cars and their values so I would like to take advantage of your knowledge. What should I be paying for this car? Thanks in advance, Dan

From one Dan to another... all I can tell you is what Hagerty thinks...
'65 Buick Skylark base convertible.
#1 perfect concours ready $40k.
#2 excellent condition $26,700.
#3 good....just for kicks $17,300
I'd give $27k for that car all day...

Just noticed...big difference from a Sport Coupe. #1 $21,800. #2 $14,900.

Being a Skylark fanatic, they just don't seem to bring the money. Great if you are buying, bad for the seller. GS's and other a-body's bring much more. Think $25k is fair for both parties. Buy it!

I love a bodies- have chevelles, a GTO and want a skylark next. I mostly watch the 68-72 market, but being a convertible I’d thinking in the current market mid 20s.

Anything <$25k is a very good deal, especially for a droptop/stick car.
How much is he asking ?

Thanks guys, Seller is asking 30K. I figure the best part is that it is done and done well. Hard to find any 60's convertible at least in New York that hasn't had any bodywork or panels replaced. Car shows about 52K miles and is believed correct. I haven't driven it yet but he did take me for a ride and it seemed nice and tight, rode well. All I could find wrong with the car was a fly speck sized chip in the paint under the hood ornament would need touching up. and the hood ornament needs painting or new inserts. Aside from that the car is ready to show. All I would do is add a tachometer but that's a personal touch. I have offered 25K for the car and that's where we stand right now. Will keep you posted, Chiefdan

Even at $30 k it is not a bad deal if it is all done with no needs, but that is getting close to the ceiling for that car.
Just a FYI, I had a 65 LeMans convertible/4spd and one thing I would defiantly recommend is upgrading the brakes to discs if you intend on driving the car with regularity.

That's really nice. I would say $28K. $30K if it was a bucket console car. I really like it, hoping that you can make a deal on it.

I was going to guess 30k. I don't think he's out of line at all.

$30k is reasonable for that car. If you can get it for $27k, even better.
