Letting Go
I just put my Fabulous motorcycle up For Sale (Obviously not here), but after having my C8 for nearly a year, I came to the realization that it was holding a spot from a past life that nothing could fill until now. The C8 is that Game Changer and it is time to move on and forward. Don't get me wrong, if my sons rode, I'd hand it down. I love it that much, but realizing (accepting) milestones in life is sometimes hard. I am no where near done, but I have too many toys and do not desire a GarageMahal to store everything. I need to make space to enjoy what i have vs just taking care of things I do not use enough. So to all those that bad mouth, downplay, INSERT YOU ADJCETIVE/ADVERB HERE to me the C8 is my first Corvette and it is nice to start at the top sometimes. I don't see the demand diminishing any time soon (contrary to some voices), I see it growing with an audience that is expanding (I'm Proof). And yes I can still ride!

I just did the same, the c8 fills the void for both. The distracted drivers lately have been multiplying too...makes the decision easier.

Being an Army Brat and around Military people all of my life, I’ve maintained the “MASH” lifestyle....that is, being able to pack up the house in 24 hours and bug out.
So I get “simplifying” ones life.

I've been riding for the past 50 years and just sold my 2017 Stage 3 black Road King. I had some *** hole try to kill me intentionally last year and that really shook me up. The C8 gives enough thrills I hopefully don't miss riding too much. But I did just buy 2 electric fat tire bikes that are a hoot !!

I still have a Honda PCX150 that I use extensively when I am on RV Road trips. It is the only way to see some of the National parks like Yellowstone, Glacier, ... unless of course you are in a C8. But my C8 will not fit on the platform I fabricated for the MC. And I don't do towing. I'm good at it, but it is a PIA for many reasons. My C8 will just have to do when I am not on Road Trips with the RV.
I also had someone do it to me (had to be life flighted to a hospital) because I was a courteous rider - No MAS. You are required to be an **** Sphincter or you will get killed nowadays.

It took me 10 years before I got another bike after my accident totaled the previous one. Like I said, you have to be very aggressive when you ride or else.

@C8J Dude that is a classic! How long have you had it?
I have flipped two MCs, last one 10 years ago, after that I told myself "I suck at riding....I am sticking with four wheels and a V8"

I sold mine last year after realizing that since buying my C7 I hadn't ridden the bike more than a couple of times a year for the last 4 years. The C8 certainly wouldn't have improved on that.

At least you didn't go the Trike route.
Which?
2013 CB1100
2016 PCX150
Both are Hondas
Started on Honda 50, 90, 250, 450, 750 Now these 2. I've only been in love with real bikes. Never a fan of the ones that force you to be hunched over all the time.

Now that's a beautiful Red Mist, C8J! Too bad you let it go, but yeah, enjoy the C8!

I see a lot less motorcycles than I used to. I hear from people that they’re concerned with distracted drivers a lot. When I’m riding shotgun I notice a lot of drivers looking at their phones so I get it.
However, it’s strange to me to see bicyclist still “sharing the road” on a congested 2 lane during rush hour with no shoulder. They got a death wish or something?

Last September was riding my Z900 when a driver ran a red light and hit me from behind causing massive trauma to my right shoulder. 45 years of accident free bike riding down the tubes. One ride was from Kentucky to Alaska solo.
Couple of weeks ago sold my remaining bike, a 2018 Suzuki V Strom 1000. If you cant trust drivers all around you then riding a bike no longer makes any sense. Seems like every day I am reading about another motorcyclist death, a club I do not want to join. I sure do miss it but driving my ZL1 helps since it is quicker than either of the bikes I recently owned.

I've had Corvettes as my daily drivers for close to 30 years now, but I grew up on motorcycles, its in my blood. Don't know why but I got away from it for quite awhile in my late 20's and 30's. Oddly enough, when my wife at the time expressed an interest in getting one and learning to ride, it sparked my interest again. Now I can't imagine not riding - its about the only thing that makes me feel alive!. Currently have 3. I like to get them as non-running projects, fix'em, ride'em around for awhile then move on to the next one. Considering a dirt bike again - haven't ridden one of those since my 20's - that'll probably be the one that takes me out! No C8 yet, but no doubt I will have one. Maybe I'll revisit this thread in a couple of years when I do!

I still ride (06 VRSCD Night Rod), but find myself riding less as the years go by. As others have pointed out, there are just too many distracted drivers out there on the roads.
Not sure if I could ever give up motorcycles altogether, though. There is nothing like the open air feeling riding on two wheels.

Another bad analogy is the transition from sailing into a land barge. Enough said with that.

There are two rules for motorcycle riding:
1. You are invisible. Since you don't have a big wide profile and 2 headlights, you disappear into the background.
2. If they see you, they want to kill you. I've had people look me right in the eye and then pull out in front of me.
When the old lady ran me off the road into the ditch at 40 MPH, I decided it was time to give up the Harley.
