Sixteen foot ring-slot chute that the Air Force used for cargo drop. We dyed it purple in our washing machine- Around 1963.
Cheers,

I wasnt even a thought when that pic (Eddie) was taken but remember reading out it as a kid in the 70s.
Back when guys really had to be inventive to go fast I respect that!
passmenow those pics bring back memories of Saugus Speedway. Every night working on my buddys car, practice then race night. Driving even a roundy round car isnt anywhere as easy as it appears.
Good times!! Shame it closed down its now some kind of swap meet or something

I love this shot---anytime you lift the inside front tire in a car like this-- you are making serious GEE! I wish everyone could experience how GREAT this feels! God has blessed us so abundantly!
Ercie and I wish you and yours a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous New Year!

Two friends and I shared a SCCA B Prod 66 roadster during the late 60s and early 70s.
We didn't have a big budget but, we sure had loads of fun!

Ultima CanAm with 440 inch all aluminum Chevy small block with electronic stack injection and dry sump. MagnaShocks, Porsche transaxle, 2000 pounds.
Kinsler
The car in the background is the Lola T70 coupe that was previously owned and raced by James Garner.
Runs lap times at Hallett like the open wheelers, One minute 19 seconds.

Eddie that's like a Can Am car with a license plate.
Good test Friday, 30 gallons of VP 110 in 2 hours.
Pissed off my helper decided about 10:30pm to ditch the hotel and start our 5 hour drive home.
About 2 hours after we left the hotel my buddy's Ram 1 ton was stolen from the hotel lot, it was parked next to mine.
Cops came and said a truck theft ring was active in the area.
Good intuition leaving, I don't like leaving the truck and enclosed trailer/race car in a hotel parking overnight.
Might be time to invest in GPS trackers for both.

So with a good launch I would think it would be respectable.

Several years back I did with my other corvettes. As much as I am curious to see what it would do in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile thus far I have just stuck with 1 mile stuff so far. When I did the 214mph mile run from the video I posted my Dragy showed my 1/8 mile of 8.72 at 102.56mph and 1/4 mile was 12.25 at 142.50mph. LOL
So with a good launch I would think it would be respectable.

Let me know if you make it down here sometime.

I started late in life. I was going to go to one of the “drive a NASCAR around a track” and when talking to some guys I worked with they said hey, build a car and race at the local track. I did that, ran some enduros, raced street stock a couple times, then another guy I worked with talked me into buying this car.
’39 Chevy skin, straight 6 chevy. Raced with a group, VROA, vintage racing. I did that for two years and then got a really bad hip which made getting in and out very difficult and painful, so I sold it and quit racing. Learned a lot and had some fun.
