While I LOVE the C5, I'd trade any one of mine for a new Mustang GT500
760 HP and 625 ft lbs of torque. Hell yes
as much as I love the C8 corvette,(Will be buying a Z06 or ZR1 version) the Cobra's are just amazing.... and I would 100% take it over a base c8,,, just look at any model year cobra and compare to the same year corvette and look at the price..... corvettes resale drop off a cliff..... shebly cobra's do not.
Bashing other cars isn't a good idea. Its like the "I'm the toughest guy in the world" syndrome. Sooner or later, there's always someone tougher or better.
Enjoy your own car and appreciate that other's feel the same about theirs.
I agree..... that being said.... I can bench press more than you......... (sarcasm alert)
Bet a lot of actual exotic car owners laugh at the snobbery here. We drive older Chevys, noones impressed sorry. lol
Funny crowd
Several months ago there was a guy on Ferrarichat slagging off on corvettes. Cheap interior, too common, blah, blah, blah. Most of the 45-60 year old Ferrari owners quickly told him to STFU and pointed out they had corvettes for track day cars, and that people who don’t like corvettes tend to fall into three categories. First, never drove one for any length of time. Second, drove a “bad one,” e.g. one that was underpowered due to emissions requirements or one that had not been maintained. Third, person is a car snob and is more interested in image over substance. I think the same can be said about this thread. As many people have pointed out, there are car people here, and there are rubes who just don’t get it. I don’t want a Skyline, but I understand why it is a pretty great car. This thread went seriously sideways. Different cars do different things. When my kids were younger I had a Sienna. Some friends used to wonder how I could own a minivan. Great kid mover, can’t sing enough praises for it for young families. OTOH, I have always been fortunate to have fun cars as well.
A base level C8 will beat it off the line and hold on for a bit before the GT will overtake. Pretty impressive a base C8 will hang with this thing. Again - weight is a huge factor as HP difference is about 265 in favor the of the GT. C8 would take it on a track though.
I imagine the new Z's will blow the GT away.
It's why I personally don't think Mustangs and Vettes are in the same class. You need one of the highest rated new mustangs to hang with the base model of the latest vette. Fun to watch them race though.
Reality is it does not hang. The C8 is awesome to 60 and then doesn't have the power to "hang". Trap speeds show the GT500 is going to be buss lengths ahead within the blink of an eye after the 1,320.
Ok, but not as many

Probably sell about 140% more Mustangs vs Vettes. lol More likely to have more Mustang memes with so many more folks out crashing them vs the waxers with Vettes.
Yup, guilty as charged. Tried to post two pictures from my phone as I was leaving work. Mea Culpa. For that I have to go back to driving my old Mustang. Gone but not forgotten.

There used to be one just like that driving around locally. Same color and top. It disappeared a year ago or so.
Looks like a nice clean stock example. Probably had a 302 though, which really isn't that exciting in that big of a car.
351c 285/350 cruise-o-matic. It had its moments but I was ready for something a bit more modern since my other fun car is a 1969 365 GT 2+2. My grandmother bought the Mustang in 1972 as a dealer leftover. It lived in California until 1997 when I drove it to Chicago.

I'll bet the new owner loved getting that rust free California car.
Here's my last 3 cars. I was actually looking to upgrade to a Coyote but it seemed like the colors weren't attractive. When I saw the C5 (which I hadn't really paid any attention to) it grabbed my attention.
