Camaro ZL1 Opinions ?

I don't totally disagree. I think people see them as "nice", but they're not like lambos to them. Regular people see them like an Acura or Volvo, nice, but not mind blowing. It's on CF that people like to virtue signal their being down to earth by saying they're just their beater daily whatever. In the real world, I've never had anyone act like it was anything but a nice car. Even my c4, which is a very not nice car.
The 6th Gen Camaro was clearly designed to try to woo corvette buyers so they'd hopefully stay in the GM fold when they dropped the C8 turd on us. No denying they made a compelling reason to not spend the extra for a Vette. But, it's still not the same experience.
My settle comment was based directly on "I want a Corvette but can buy this zl1". He did say the zl1 would be cheaper, but I get they're the same price new. I dont really care that the zl1 is slightly slower than the gs, it could be faster, wouldn't matter to me, neither are what I'd buy in that price range. I'd get a 5th Gen viper. There's a lot more to cars than stats and lap times. Either way, I'm sticking with my slower than all of these c6 gs, lol.

I have had a bunch of C4's. Great cars regardless of what people say.

Love mine. I can thrash it and have fun but not go to jail. I can park it anywhere and not worry about dingd or anything. It's super analog, and a ton of fun. It's more fun than my c6 is truth be told. Really under rated cars to actually drive.

I love the Camaro, especially would love a ZL1. Can you afford both? That ZL1 is a mighty car!
As far a speed & performance goes, my friend used to say, 'He might outrun me, but it'll take him a while to do it'.

A zl1, with equal (good) drivers won't beat a C7 GS on a track. But driven by average enthusiasts, the 200hp difference will probably pay off more dividends than the C7 platform capability.
That said, if you want a Corveyye, don't settle for a camaro. Before I bought my first c6 years ago I had a similar deal come up. A cheap deal on an SS from a family friend. My dad told me something important, "nobody who can afford settles for a camaro". Personally, I wouldn't settle.

The same reason they look down on the GT350/GT500. It's just a Mustang, or just a Camaro. Well the Corvette is just a Chevy...no one sees it as a status symbol.

Surprised more than my fair share of other sports car owners with mine
A few times had the chance to talk to the owners afterwards and they were all shocked to find out the standard features of the Zl1 as well as the price. Some of us actually buy sports cars for performance and could care less what others see us driving around in.
But if "status" is important by all means by the slower C7.

Leaning to ZL1 mainly because I like the feeling of sitting higher in traffic. 650 horses, bigger all around in case of an accident gives a sense of confidence knowing what if I am rear ended. Driving ZL1 I feel the body style sends a strong message of leave me alone and the small windows give you a feeling of protection.

The base C7 and GS are slower on all fronts vs. the ZL1, in a straight line it will murder them both and around Laguna Seca...... The ZL1 is over a full second faster than the GS. You need to move into a Z06 before the Corvette becomes a better "performance" car than the ZL1.

Ive been in both and the new ZL1 in the A10 is pretty sweet and surprising. Dont discount it. I almost bought one before picking up my ZR1 but they just hit the market and didnt want to spend $70K on a Camaro that's now dropping into the $40Ks

Take one for a test ride. I used to pass along how **** poor the visibility was based on hearing others comment about it. The Z is easier to see out of than my 2017 C7. It’s not perfect though, it could benefit from a front mounted camera. Blind spot monitoring is standard as well as MRC and a bunch of different driving modes, launch control, etc. Dual mode exhaust is also standard as well as HUD and power seats (both sides), heated and cooled seats and heated steering wheel. Only options are the A10, PDR, NAV and sun roof.

You should go to cars and coffee at in St. Petersburg when they have them. There's always about 5-6 ZL1- 1LE. Ive been in both and the new ZL1 in the A10 is pretty sweet and surprising.
