Supra dealer madness
Saw a toyota dealership down near the shore and was about to run in and check the Supra out when a young lady (sales woman) showed me the way to a limited edition Supra. It was marked up over $10,000 dollars. I said why? She said look at this sports car, and i did. The first item was who and how would i shoe horn my self into this small, shiny bob sled., There is no car here it is this what the japanese think of Americans Is this for real? Over priced Tuna can, do they know the C8 is out. Give me a break. These will soon be collectors for very few will sell to a normal car guy!

Itll sell. Its fast, great looking, and has a history with to draw on.
I wouldn't pay over MSRP, but it's on my radar as a next car.

While I know it's new which may cause some people to pay over list, it's really not the awesome "halo" car it was chalked up to be. While I'm sure it's fun to drive, it doesn't put up any numbers that are really impressive.

Thats the thing, it isnt intended to be a halo car. Its intended to just be a fun to drive sports car. It isnt about the numbers, its about the experience. There is definitely room for that in the market, all sports cars now are specs over experience.

Toyota should be ashamed of the Supra. They went through all the hype to just have BMW build it for them. Fail! The Supra should be their top end design and engineering showcase and not some rebadged BMW Z car.

While I'm not a fan of the production design and the fact that it's basically a BMW, I almost think the size is about right while the C8 is getting to be too big. I'm kind of mixed on the C8 too, it looks exotic but the back like the C7's is kind of ugly/cluttered. The bang for buck definitely favors the C8 but I could see the Supra getting nice discounts if it's not selling well.

I suspect the people who rant on about stuff like this have never worked high level in a manufacturing environment.
And really, at the end of the day, NOBODY is "building" cars anymore, they all assemble cars made with parts from the same few suppliers to the industry.

No matter who makes the parts or assembles it, if it’s bmw stamped, it’ll be great under warranty. After that, not so much. Having owned both Toyota and bmw cars, Toyota should definitely be ashamed to be identified even only mistakenly as a Z4.

It's not built by BMW. Its built by Magna Steyr. And yeah, it uses BMW supply chains, so the parts are "BMW", but the stamp doesnt mean they're not designed with Toyota input.

It's too fucked up for me. My buddy bought a 90s turbo one a few months back. That's the way to go I guess. Or, hang with me. Lol the late 80s are better with an LS swap.

Counterpoint....The Supra is a fantastically overpriced, BLOATED, UGLY, piece of specious Japanese Caricature 'design'. It should come with a bag of MIDOL in the glove compartment. Drop three or four pills into the gas tank...maybe the swelling will go down.
I have seen the real thing ....it's awesomely ugly. For $56k ,why not buy a new C-8?
Man, the Japanese CANNOT design a good looking car to save their lives.
BMW sold them a bill of goods.....foooo-ey!

Some people arent buying a car to cover their fragile self esteem. If I bought a car that was trying to look like a mclaren, then it dqmn well better be a mclaren.
The C8 is the Foakley sunglasses of the auto world. The Folex of watches. Do you really want someone in the know to know you're wearing a *** Heuer, not a real Tag?
At the end of the day, at least neither are some autonomous electric piece of ****. We should be celebrating new sports cars as enthusiasts, not **** talking them all.
