GMC truck wipers
Have a 2007 GMC 1500. Wipers will not work once the motor gets hot. Found this out several weeks ago while on the Interstate. Went thru a heavy downpour with wipers working fine. Rain let up and I turned the wipers off. Got into another heavy rain and turned the wiper switch and nothing. Able to get to an exit and pull into a station. Needless to say no more wipers. Had to cautiously drive home. Just wondering if others have had this problem. First time this has happened. Thanks,

Do you have a heated windshield wiper system on your 2007-2009 GM full-size pickup? If so, it’s likely part of a wide-ranging recall of 1.36 million vehicles including 18 different models of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer and Saturn cars, trucks and SUVs.

Don't have a heated system. There is a recall to replace the wiper motor cover, but according to GMC my VIN is not part of the recall. Truck is pretty much useless if rain is forecast. My son-in-law will check all of this next week. Truck is like new. Bought it 1 1/2 years ago with low mileage. Presently has 42,000 miles on the odometer.

The heated windshield washer fluid recall was a separate issue where the system could catch fire. The recall forced GM to disconnect the system and give owners $100 which to me wasn't worth it since I loved that system. 07 was a bad year for GM with the first year of the new trucks, they had a lot of gremlins.

When my dad was still alive both of his last Trucks had problems with the wipers he had to pay to have fixed at the Chevy dealer.
A 96 Silverado and a 99 Tahoe (still the old body style in 99). If I remember right it was the gear box on those that ended up going bad.
After he had the Tahoe fixed GM issued a recall on the wipers and sent him a check to reimburse the amount he paid to have them fixed.
I just figure it was one of those things you expect to bad like the Vortec Trucks fuel pumps.

Thanks to all for the info. Info found by my son-in law referred to the cover needing to be replaced. Will look this up on You Tube as mentioned above. My first thoughts were to use Rain-X and see what happens in the next downpour.
