I can't imagine most Z06 owners (or potential owners) would make any kind of purchase decision based on one obscure factoid.

Maybe all the Viper negatives would sway someone however. (Higher price, ugly car, rough ride, noisy interior, inefficient on fuel, lower cornering grip, hot side exhaust, and cramped cabin, to name a few.)

I call "bs" on 5mph slower in 1/4. Also note "manual", have the viper line up against the auto in the 1/4.

They're not even saying a slower 1/4. They got to the 1/4 in the same time in a manual Z06.

They're saying keep accelerating beyond the 1/4 to 150 MPH and the Z06 gets to that speed in about a second longer.

But of course your comment about the A8 still applies: the Z06 would probably beat the ACR in that case for both the 1/4 as well as continuing on to 150 MPH.

Of course, C&D is probably looking under every rock to find SOMETHING that the ACR beats the Z06 in. It's apparently pretty challenging.

I would be alot more interested in the Gen V Viper if it had the Hellcat engine in it. I hate the viper engines, and not just the way they sound. When it comes to mods....too hard to make real power. A 90 degree V10...oddfire... YUCK!

You gotta give it to Dodge though, they are doing everything they can to sell this car. Special editions, special paint, the TA, the TA2, the GTC, the ACR, the 1 of 1 program.

Most people who consider purchasing the new ACR couldn't care less about this kind of number. The ACR is a highly focused road course car with similar power numbers to the Z06 but with a lot more downforce, until GM decides to make a Z06 analogue it will likely outperform the Z06 on track. I would advise Z06 fans to graciously give the ACR respect and give FCA its due for making it exist. It may not be the car for everyone but many Z06 owners (like myself) wish there were a more track focused version of the Z06. Great cars are great cars, a true car enthusiast gets past childish brand/corporate tribalism and is able to acknowledge them no matter who the manufacturer is. imo

You can thank the *people* who want to continually post about that car, set up rigged "tests", etc for the attitude here. The car is fine, but it has some overly ardent fans who only know how to be trolls.

This thread also belongs in other cars.

It's also a flat out misleading title since this isn't even about an ACR, just a plain old viper.

They did not test the ACR. It was a GTC car optioned with the TA 2.0, among other things.

No, it doesn't belong in other cars. The fact threads, the subject of which involve the C7Z, get moved from the C7Z section to other cars is not only inappropriate, but frankly embarrassing.

I for one, wish it would stop.
