I can see someone not liking the hatch-back, I love the convenience of them. That is why they make the RS6.

My opinion is probably swayed by the fact I live in New England and would want the AWD. But I think the RS7 looks the best as well.

Right, so if interested in both, the Z06 should do both better. Better than GT3 handling better than M5 acceleration/cruising. Best of both worlds.

However I'm not sold on the Z either. At least not with how GM have constrained it. So I digress. To each his own.

Not sure where you live, but I don't think the RS6 exists here - and hasn't for a number of years.

The c7 z06 is far from a monster losing to stock c6 z06s from a roll. Its a beautiful great looking handling braking car with a great interior but far from a monster.126 mph tap speed at the end of the quarter mile .Thats it ,thats all.

I know, I really wish they would bring the RS6 Avant here, the problem is no one buys them in the US.

I should have worded my post different, it does insinuate the RS6 is available here. I knew it wasn't, I was just pointing out they do make another option and it is cheaper to boot.

Maybe so, but I'd still take the Z any day. So far its just plain excellent. But I do agree its a bit crazy we even have to discuss this.

Be very careful racing F10 M5's, they pull like freight train's up top.

Doubt there will be any "ownage". The M5's main advantage (if equipped) is the DCT, making the race entirely depended upon whether the Z's driver can shift well. If so, he will win the race. I own an M6, and I am looking at Z06s so very interested to see the outcome.

More fun to drive per them, netter handling.

So never say never...

Who thought in 2009, we would be having this many great American cars or cars in general to bench mark against.

I wonder if some of you have any idea what defines " fast" or a " monster". The C7Z06 is simply one of the fastest cars in the world (stock). Very few cars come to mind that would beat it in a race: exotics, and MAYBE ZR1/GTR/Viper/Hellcat.
Is it as fast as anticipated? maybe not, but it is still a VERY fast car and denying that is ridiculous....

Stock, as others have said should lead to a check mark in the win column for the vette but you can't afford to be nonchalent. The higher the speed, the better for the M5 with DCT.
Now maybe your friend has an ace in his pocket and has the car tuned. In this case, you could probably lose.
I have a tuned CLS63 that puts down 590rwph/700rwt and I surprise quite a few on the highway. I am on the fence getting a Z and this ECU issue right now is giving me cold feet. When I bought my CLS, it gave me 550 crank hp all the time during the humid summer Florida days and I would expect the same for the Z. I hope GM fixes the issue.
Have fun anyway and post the results with a video.

Even if a stock M5 does 520 and a Z does 585 isn't 65rwhp close to 90 at the crank?they are both rated conservative

If a stock F10 M5 can stay with a C6 Z06, my prediction is the C7 Z06 will jump out for a bit but may lose ground once the M5 gets into 4th gear and the DCT does it's magic. I own a tuned F10 M5 and it is absolutely stupid fast. I mean fbo Z06 fast with your family in it.

Much of the outcome will depend on the M5. There seems to be some stronger ones out there.
I broke mine in like I planned on driving the car. No ***** footing. The car made just over 540whp on a dynojet. With tune and downpipes right now it makes around 650wheel and around over 700wheel with MS109. Beast.
