Hellcat does a 10.8 quarter mile on drag slicks.

Why wasn't he on tires that come with the car?? Maybe tooooo much Hp and TQ. That was their problem in the 70's on street tires they smoked the tires to the rims and everybody else hooked up. But once on slicks they were hard to beat

Agreed, I am happy for Dodge, about time they sent something that might compete in a straight line with the Mustang and Camaro, problem is I bet it weighs a ridiculous amount and will still get smoked in the turns. The Challener is a touring car IMO
I like it, but to me both the Mustang and Camaro are way ahead of it in the fun factor category.
If I needed usable back seats and a big trunk I would consider it, but I don't.

Is this a troll, I don't even think breaks the top 10. It's ironic how little excitement there is for such a feat outside of a small sector. Me I love the muscle wars, but I think the platform is over improved already.

I wonder if Fiat discovered a box full of old dusty car magazines from the 60's an decided to go back in time and let Dodge replicate their glory days of the 60's. Fast cars in a straight line. You know it will be on the cover of EVERY car mag published in the free world.

Also the Hellcat is shown on a list at #15, and the cars it somehow defies logic and physics to beat on that list kinda make me feel like something is super fishy about the car that ran those times. The SRT Viper GTS has a better power to weight ratio than that hellcat can ever hope to achieve and with the Viper's 375's I don't really get it.
The other thing that trip's me out about this car is that it's trapping a really low speed for a 1/4 for it's time. The only other cars that have similar trap speeds are the GT-R (11.0 @ 125.1mph) and the Noble M400 (119 @ 11.4). So unless Chrysler somehow managed to make a traction control system for a RWD that is on par with AWD systems these numbers seem fudged, and I will accept them grudgingly until the car is in the hands of actual testers and not the PR team trying to hype up the SRT badge to keep it afloat.
All that said I like the car, but the hype is killing me...it's a powerful, heavy, boat of a car and looks mean. If the numbers are real it may well humiliate it's fair share of cars at stop lights, but the Hellcat will become a fading memory in the rearview mirror of a C7 Stingray on any road with curves.

If my memory serves me this board was full of people discussing 1/4 mile times from day one, and maybe even some fictitious postings at that.
Why not applaud Chrysler/Fiat for kicking some A$$!

I will say it is good that Dodge/SRT are going to actually make the thing, and more power to the guys/gals that buy the thing, but I am more interested in what SRT has in store for the Viper as that is a car I would like to see be successful as I grew up loving the things and if my money situation continues to improve as it has the past few years i may be able to have one in my garage after I get my Vette paid off.

I would applaud them when the car posts similar times in the hands of independent testers. Right now I view this as advertising the SRT brand and remain skeptical.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, I hear from a good source that an ACR and a vert are not too far off. Now if they admit that they missed the mark with the price and reestablish those numbers the car will become relevant again. If you get the chance check out the Gen V Viper, it is pretty spectacular.
As for the Hellcat, I think it would be a neat car to own if I had all my other dream cars in the garage...but that list is mighty long. As far as my current situation a 2015 Z51 in yellow will suit me for the time being. I would like to make a bigger splash for the Z06 but I think that would be stretching my money a bit further than I would like right now. Of course that could change between now and the time my order goes in...the Z06 is too damn tempting.
