IMO Vipers look cool and you don't many on the streets like Vettes - not the C7 'yet'. Everyone is comparing the C7Z to it ... what about the 'antiquated' ZR1 ? Almost all auto mags rated the ZR1 better and it also turned a faster lap time at various tracks.

i'd own a viper in a heartbeat if i could. would do so not by selling a vette, however, but rather in adding to the stable. preferably a 'vert. the new srt 'vert is really somethin'.
in terms of eyeball-gathering, i think vipers have the vettes beat in that department, but that's neither here nor there.
they (vipers) are just as much an icon of american sports car heritage.
i'd own a viper in a heartbeat if i could. would do so not by selling a vette, however, but rather in adding to the stable. preferably a 'vert. the new srt 'vert is really somethin'.

Both the ZR1 and C7Z (when it comes out) will perform better than the Viper

The OP comes into the "Other Cars" section of the forum mentioning a Viper and some of you just fall apart at the seams.. 
Good on ya OP.. I want a new Viper as well and may very well end up with one, after I unload my SRT8 Jeep and CTS-V .. I would be more than happy to downsize my stable for awhile just to make sure that I don't end up with an inferior car when the C7Z makes it to my driveway. I take that back, I won't unload the V..

If SRT/Dodge doesn't get off their ... Viper will be gone very soon. Really the gen5 wasn't enough of a leap performance wise over the gen4ACR and I think that's what is killing the sales. With the C7Z06 following so close and the associated marketing hype, it's going to hurt Viper badly. Viper needs some batshit-insane boosted model putting out 800bhp and a track-rat ACR offered to sway people from the Z06.
That's part of the appeal of a Viper - it's outrageousness. I would loooovvveee to see a boosted/fi model with crazy aggressive styling.

I've seen many a C6 Z06 hang with a newish Viper. And they're at a 100hp deficit

Seen ZR1 hang with the new viper, not stock C6Z06. Both white cars went on to drag race at a strip and although the ZR1 had traction issues the trap times were about the same.

I think the viper looks awesome and this is definitely the best viper to date, I agree with what someone said earlier though....they just didn't go quite far enough with the performance.
Hopefully they do bring out ACR and/or other packages to really up the ante.

It is puzzling since the v10 puts 805 Hp for the race prepped challenger. You woul think 700 Hp would be quite doable. In meantime waiting for the new z to impress......exciting times

Man, what’s up with all of the haters. I say go enjoy your Viper. I have one and I LOVE it. After owning almost a dozen Vettes, the Viper has MORE than exceeded my every expectation of what a real super car should be. YES the new Vette is nice, but damn, I see at least 10 every single day. The Viper is in a completely different class, very exclusive and sought after by the true enthusiast. Again, I’ve been a Vette man for more then 20 yrs, since back when I bought my Vette. But the second I drove my Viper I was hooked.. Congrats on your car and enjoy it. Beware though, there’s a LOT of haters out there..
And this pretty much sums up my story also as I have a 2009 600 HP 8.4 liter Viper Coupe and do not own a vette for the first time in 20 years. Enjoy that bad azz new Viper of yours in good health and congrats!

My apologies. Looking back at some of the videos, the C6 Z's were not completely stock. Usually a tune and intake. They did however put up a good fight.
