Why are ~2003 BMW 745li with $150K so cheap?

Ok.....you all have steered me away from the big Beemer, thanks for the input.
How about downsizing a bit.....here's a nice looking MB C230 Sport. I see quite a few a bit less too, but this one looks quite appealing.....

The e65 745's were a big pos. ive had 2 both still under factory warty. If you like the car opt for the newer 06 and up 750.

a 3 series out of warranty is fine...
That 7 series with all the electronics is a maintenance nightmare as stated everywhere in this thread. You can easily pay more than the purchase price in one major repair or several minor ones.

Why not look into a acura tl ? If you want a 7 series look for a 750 . 5 series and 3 series are better . if you have any questions send me a pm i work on all make and models and see just about every problem .

I learned the hard way, too, on a simple 3 series. $1800 a month in repairs, month after month. Never again.
This is why the majority of used 'prestige' vehicles are under maintained. The people who can't afford a new MB, BMW or Audi but are dying to say they own a MB etc. go and buy a used one and then can't even remotely afford the cost of parts. Which leaves the rest of us choking in the clouds of smoke they trail wherever they go. Pathetic.

Man I drove a used 750 and fell in love!!! What a car!!! BUT doing research on it scared me to death. Some of the local beemer dealer techs I met and the stories they told me caused me to run away!!!
Basically there are some electrical and computer issues.........even the boys in Germany cannot figure out. Seems it worked great in design but not so much in real life.
Personally I have bought 2 Cadillac STS cars..... you can get a 4 or 5 years old one no more then $15K lot less for an older one. As an example my dealer friend sold my 05 STS for $8,500. It was a $64K car have 85K miles. On both the cars each was 8 to 9 years old I never had an issue.
The STS model line bombed. Persoanlly I think it one of the finest Cadis made but GM is focused on the CTS and never promoted the STS.

Funny you should mention that STS info... My work beater is a 93 STS Seville with 170k+ on it. Everything works except the CD player. The interior is holding up fine and the Caddy still has a feel of quality about it. 22 mpg on the freeway and 300 hp and it still scoots for an old car!

The last generation STS with the V8 is actually a damn good car. But it's a boring old person Caddy, which is only slightly better than the sketchy drug dealer Caddys.
The BMWs are cheap due to the insanely high mileage, and the fact that the engines were crap, and the transmissions were crap, and the electronics were crap, and they cost a fortune to fix.
The base C-Class is about as much of a luxury car as a well equipped Mitsubishi, maybe less. I've never understood why people insist on buying the cheapest and worst "luxury" car they can just for the badge.
If I wanted a cheap older luxury sedan, I'd be in a Lexus GS430, Acura TL-S, or a Caddy STS V8. MAYBE an Inifiniti M35, if I could stomach the looks.
