I wasn't trying to give you a hard time or say it's better off crushed, the price of used cars has just sky rocked in the last few years. I am about to sell my 1993 suburban and while I see it as around a $1k car, there are plenty with more miles than mine listed at 3-4k.. Given that you can get one 10 years newer for just a little more money, it doesn't make sense to me.

Don't crush your (or was it a friend's?) car though!

If you don't sell right away, just lower the price. This happens in real estate, all the time.

Analogy here...

Buyer comes in, offers $127k on your $135k ask starter home built in '92. I'm comparing TX real estate, so those prices still exist. The buyer then proceeds in the option period to demand new windows, a new roof, new A/C, new carpets, paint, upgrade all the electrical to current code, new water heater - and - granite counters. So, if you could get a contractor to do the work, you're probably looking at netting $50k by the time it's all done??

The poor Prelude has all that stuff already done. Once you've spent all that money making it that nice - why move if you have to give it away?

So does that mean you are "padding" the price in anticipation of a low-ball offer? I typically set a reasonable price at the get-go and hold steady, but that's me.

hey for whatever it's worth, that was a ncie car.

friend of mine has a honda del sol with about 300k or so miles, runs almost perfect. has needed a few things here & there over the years, but by & large it has been an absolutely amazing car.

Miraculously - a discount tire patron saw the car (on the way to the crusher) and paid $5625.
