Bailed on C7... and C6... For this:
Hello all ,
Some of you may remember my bad experience with the C7 Stingray.
So, I have been waffling about whether or not to try another Corvette.
Maybe a z06 when they come out... OR.. perhaps go back to the C6 GrandSport which I had and liked well enough.
Then I found it. The car of my dreams from waaaayyyy back. So hard to find one, let alone one in GREAT condition with super low miles... and at just 30% of the cost of a new vette... how could I say no? One of a kind looks... screaming v8... Twin turbo madness...
Please welcome to my garage, THIS:

Looks very unique. What kind of car is that? My first guess was a DeLorean?

Enjoy. Some guys like the old stuff. I like looking at them, but I don't want to own them. To me, the good old days are the latest and greatest. My C6 is obsolete and will eventually be replaced with right now tech in the C7.

.. to name a few problems.. A/c didn't work, ECO mode was dropping 5 cylinders, break pedal was very loose, rear-end suspension was wonky, runs in the paint on multiple panels.. Dealer took it back.

its true...
I am nostalgic.
I still love my 1977 corvette too.
Yeay for old stuff !! *dances*
I'm not a hater.. corvettes still have a big place in my heart. I just went a different way this year after the big let down last fall. no worries.
...and yes... I'm well aware of the bad reputation these cars have. I am also aware of what is myth and what is fact. The engines put out 500 hp as designed, but were detuned at the factory as to not grenade the transmissions which were rated at 350 ft/tq. Most people immediately re-tuned them, blew the trans, than whined.
The good news is its 15 years later and modern parts still plug and play right in to it. These cars are OBDII compliant, and racing transmissions have existed for some time now in the UK that are not only reliable... but reliable at the engines' original 500HP designed limit and beyond!!
Also, remember that 500hp was the OEM design without aftermarket upgrades OR modern day turbos of the same size. So much potential!!
( and not to harp on the bad vette experience too much, but this 15 year old hand built car is still 100% functional , and the brand new vette I bought wasn't even close.. so it can't be all bad.)
When these cars were not tinkered with (and had their timing belt changed on time) they were solid daily drivers. Most for sale I have seen over the years had 50k - 75k miles on them.
Sure they aren't for everyone, but I always thought they looked like the car from Spy Hunter, my favorite video game of all time... so I was thrilled to get this one.
And hey.. you never have to worry about seeing "your car" on the road next to you.. and they are priced about the same as a C5.
Lastly, lets not forget the suspension... Lotus has been and will ever be , the God of handling. *drooollllls* Nearly every car company in the world has hired them to develop suspensions.

Congratulations on your purchase. I too am a Lotus/Corvette fan.
I currently have a 2010 SS Camaro and a 2005 Lotus Elise w/sport pack. I am selling the SS to buy a C7 Z51 but keeping the Lotus.
When you need parts or service I recommend Auto Europe in Birmingham Michigan, they are a great Lotus dealer.

Thanks much.
I hope I don't need to call them for a long long time.
