Bailed on C7... and C6... For this:
#42
I think its a good move. Bought my Lotus five years ago when thinking of a C6. Went with the Lotus Esprit, then sold it after four years for the same price. Now I'm ready for the C7.
Most Esprits depreciate into the mid to high 20's and stay there forever. Value has a better chance of going up than down.
Mine cost me $900 in parts since I did my own repairs, its just a car, it's not that dificult to repair. JAE out of CA has every part for it.
If I bought a C6 now that would have cost me alot more than $900 if I traded it for the C7.
Not to mention peolpe thought I was James Bond. Good luck with it.

Enjoy the lotus, the last time I drove a lotus(it looked like yours but wasn't an 8) I had to turn my feet sideways, cause the clutch and brake were so close, If I recall the sell a pedal kit that gives room.

Refrigerator?? that seems a bit random. LOL.
What can I say. I gave the C7 a chance. Didn't work out.
One thing I am enjoying more and more that the Lotus is a ghost.
Nobody knows what it is... anymore at least...
There are only like a dozen youtube videos of it out there too.
It turns heads.. I have seen a few dropped jaws.. but mostly it just tilts heads as people are like "Wha..??" hahaha

Safety Car
I'll have to on that ... those types of old cars .. Lotus, Jaguar, etc require constant maintenace and work - which translates to lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ... but it's for you to enjoy so I hope you can.

wow, nice color.
I'm amazed you saw one! That is great. How did it look rolling down the road? How did it sound (exhaust note? blow-off valves?)
I have been doing some research and they are quite the mystical unicorn now. Only about 100 a year came to the USA and of those only about 30% still exist. I assume most were either wrecked , or simply not repaired upon catastrophic failure of the timing belt ( which people seem to never keep up on within the service guidelines ).

So I went to drive the car and the battery is dead after 3 weeks. I don't think that specifically counts as "Lotus" branded trouble though. (does it?)

Owned a 94 S4 Esprit. Biggest piece of **** I have ever owned. Looked like a million bucks, but valve train grenaded wiped out a piston. Then the trans was always a shift away from having to look for another one. I understand the lust for them but damn they are unreliable.
