I don't have to worry - if I had Porsche GT3 money
I would be ordering a Z07.

This is the ultimate Corvette ever offered - like being able to
buy a 63 Gran Sport. The only way Porsche could compete is
if they popped the hood and a aluminum 427 was in there with twin turbos. LOL

Sorry to Hi-jack but this is the Corvette Forum and the C6 Discussion section - right?

The 2014 911 GT3 is reported to do 0-60 in 3.0 sec and the 1/4 mile in 11.1 Not to bad if you ask me, but then again what to I know.

I'll never own a Porsche I am on my 5 Corvette if that tells you anything. I just thought that you might want to know just what the GT3 is capable of. It is in fact a factory produced race ready car. Never said that I would have one and that it is better then the Corvette, however we have no idea what the new Z will do in the 0-60 or the 1/4 mile.

I just happen to enjoy all brands of cars and what they are capable of. Does not mean I am going to buy one.

Sure - totally not meant in adversarial way.

The Z07 could be tweaked way past that.

at $140K plus dealer mark up around $20K for the GT3 you would still need a few extra bucks with your Z06 w/ Z07 option money.

But you're right the GT3's 0-62 times are mostly due to great powertrain management systems. Once up to speed the Z06 will most likely beat the GT3's lap times at the Nurburgring. Especially since the old out of date (he said facetiously) C6 Z06 has already laid down a 7:22 and the new GT3 laid down a sub 7:30. So, save your money I say.

There is no doubt that once the Z06-Z07 is out it will turn a better lap time then the Porsche, but as we all know, the vast majority of the Corvette's and GT3's will never see the ring, but they will see those stop light to stop light burst and in that case I think the GT3 may have the advantage. But again I am not saying I would buy the GT3 over a Z06-Z07, just say it is a capable car.

Totally agree. I love the GT3 and the new Z06 looks amazing too. Win/Win as far as I'm concerned. Hell, let's pool our efforts and get one of each!

Ummm I think credit should be given where credit is due! A flat 6 cyl. with around 475hp is an amazing job of engineering IMO. The car doesn't have near the torque of a much larger displacement V8 yet it can run pretty darn close. Also it's not a dime a dozen Chevy, some like exclusivity and much more refinement.

What's the reason the 911 s are catching on fire?

Thanks for the link Dan.

I'm somewhat surprised it wasn't caught in prior development testing. I would imagine we might find out it was a supplier issue of some sort.

I wonder what Porsche will do when it comes to replacing these vehicles for the few that had their cars go up in flames.

At least no one was hurt.

I will mention that if corvettes were going up in flames the press would not be quite so kind to the brand.

Well said. GM is awesome for still utilizing pushrods technology for this level of performance and Porsche gets the cred for wringing out the insane hp/liter numbers.

Love em both!
