What a great pic....you old smoothie!
Did you take any from the front?? ....did you put the camera on the ground? :
Console looks great Russ, do you use marine grade plywood for moisture resistance?

That was the only pic with both of us in it, from our vacation. I had set the camera on a stump and set the self timer.
Marine grade plywood uses the same glue as exterior. the difference in marine grade is that it has no/fewer voids and plugs etc. I used exterior as this will be mostly covered with vinyl anyway.
I used up some of the leftover "pink" tinted epoxy primer from the 62 today. I figured this was a good place to get rid of it . minor bodywork is done also, and ready to shoot green on the metal parts now.

As I mentioned a couple days ago, work has been a bit slow lately due to the heat wave we've been experiencing. there seems to be a slight cooling trend in sight however, and today topped out at a mild 101* so this morning I got the dash blown apart again and some prep work done for paint. I brushed a coat of Poly primer on the top surfaces of the dash and shot red oxide on the bare areas of the rest. I'll block sand tomorrow and see if another coat of poly is needed on the top.
I'm trying to gather up and prep interior trim pieces, along with the console and the dash itself to make it worth mixing up some green paint.

Time for a quick update on my progress (or lack of it). I had done two rounds on the dash with polyester primer (All-You-Need) , which is pretty much a sprayable bondo. it's a really cool product when the need arises for it's use, and the top of this dash needed it. after the second round was sanded down today, I masked it off again and shot the first coat of green.
The dash itself is all I sprayed today, as my detail spray gun was really giving me fits. I don't use it very often, and it's an old and cheep gun to begin with, so once I had a full coat on the dash I quit. a seal was leaking so much around the needle that I had to wrap a paper towel around the gun wile I was shooting to keep from dripping paint on my work.
I just ordered a new Devilbiss mini gun about 10 minutes ago, so spraying is suspended until it arrives next week. I prefer to use the same gun for spraying all the trim, so I'll put down another coat on the dash then also. otherwise one runs the risk of having a mismatch because of the way the particular gun lays down the metallic (which this color has a lot of).
I do really like this interior trim color. I'm looking at a dark saddle cut pile carpet, and two shades of tan/saddle for the soft goods.

As a point of reference, my Aston uses dark green carpet, medium green leather on the dash and center console, and tan leather on the door panels, forward door jamb, and seats.
I can send pictures if you wish.

Russ is the interior green the California Sage you are using on the body?

The interior green I'm using is just one I pulled from a color chart, and is a fair bit darker than the Sage Green exterior color. this car had nice (for an oem loop) green carpet when I bought it, but I'm attempting to eliminate some of the green areas as there's just WAY to much sameness for me. I've searched online at various cars with combined tan and green interiors and they look sharp, but I'm still working out exactly which parts I want which colors, so YA, if you can point me to your photobucket album or just send a pic or two of your interior that could be very helpful to me.

There were some unusual decisions made by Aston Martin in the interior color arrangements.
It gives me a couple new ideas however. and I like to put everything in a big pot and stir real well to come up with a final result, so this helps.

With 20 interior leather colors, 7 wood options, and 23 exterior paint colors, finding this used car configured just like I wanted it made it hard to pass up. With a 2009 production of about 900 cars, the chances of finding another one like this are small.
But, as I've said before-for many it's an acquired taste.
Glad it gives you options

It's been a busy week for me, but I did finally get some shop time for most of the day today. I managed to get a pile of interior trim parts prepped and painted, as well as shooting another coat on the dash. I like my new Devilbus detail gun pretty well. it doesn't have the control of my full size guns, but for this kind of stuff it works plenty well enough.
We have appointments tomorrow, but by Wed this should be cured enough to get the dash reassembled again. I'm looking forward to that!

Me to.... once it's sprayed well. it's a single stage metallic, so no screw-ups are allowed, or you shoot it over. Of course I NEVER screw up, so……
I had another shop day today, but I ended up playing with the console instead of the dash as planned. I went by my upholstery guy and picked out interior materials and colors so I could pick up enough vinyl to do the sides of the console.
I guess I'm committed to my interior choice now:

Those colors work great together Russ. Nice job on the console. That's about the longest armrest compartment cover I've seen.....ever!
So I guess you're not going to have a padded dash after all...:

I'm still not 100% on the dash pad thing. I had decided to just paint it, but now that I've removed the masking I can see that there's a slight amount of metallic lay-over near the glass. even using my mini detail spray gun it was very hard to correctly spray the top of the dash with the windshield in place. I guess if I decide it's too noticable, once it's put back together, I can always have a custom pad made for it out of leather or?? I really can't use a stock replacement pad in any case, due to the new center ac vent modification.
