Track Tested: 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray vs 2013 Porsche 911

I am looking at the acceleration figures in this video, and suddenly the 911 is fast, and the Corvette is slow. Neither set really matches up to what other mags have found in their tests. I would have expected the acceleration winner and loser to be reversed.
I think we will have to see a few more matches.

Nice vid.
The 7 is a great all around sports car.

I want to know how Chev came up with a 0-60 of 3.9 secs......

Better question - how does anyone get 3.3 0-60 for the 911S with the magic PDK ? This yellow car wasn't even close to that.
Given the track conditions (newer concrete - elevation unknown). I'd say these cars are pretty even in acceleration, but the Stingray is clearly the better handling car. 3 mph in the slalom is HUGE.

The simple difference here is the transmission... Plain and simple that PDK with launch control is near perfect... This would be a landslide win for the C7 if the test were both manuals. Still impressed with the C7 overall.

I'd call it fair, tho, because they tested both cars, same day, same surface, and I presume same driver.
The metric itself is little different than a dyno number. Subject to numerous variables, the value of which is for baseline and change management. Here the number is nothing more or less than a measure of the two machines under like conditions. It's not the number per se, but the comparison.

They must have tested in some strange weather conditions or had the car pulling timing. < 114 mph trap speed is worse than my old stock 2001 Z06.
That said, it's nice to see how this car is stacking up against the beset the competition has to offer.

It was a 911 S (there are 3 below it) YET the Z51 Corvette (1 below it) had better performance in every category other than acceleration from dig? Looks to me clear the Vette will beat it on track and they will pick the Corvette as their choice. Credit where due- amazing 911 had 0 (Zero) wheel spin from dead stop!

Edmunds acceleration results for the C7 have already been discussed in the other comparison threads. Their results are slower than expected for the cars they compared it against too, not just the C7. The 640 hp viper had a trap speed of 124 mph. GT-R was like 119. Given those results, 114 for the Vette sounds about right.

Scraping the splitter.
And to reiterate, Edmunds is regurgitating the numbers from one test on multiple "comparisons". 91-octane, 91*, 28.81" at 1121' and probably hotlapped...any wonder why it and the other cars are down on ET and trap speed?

When you add all the options need to achieve optimum performance your at about 125K plus another 15k for other stuff = 140. Porsche claims 3.9 0-60 with pdk and sport plus.
