I think the OP means 4matic, the simple AWD system used on most MB cars and suvs.

At $30K, this car looks like an incredible value since it probably had a sticker in 50-60s. But any repairs will be devilishly expensive.

My former coworker has an 11 or 12 E350. Within the first year of ownership, it developed some strange electrical issues. He still has it and enjoys it, otherwise. I think a Lexus LS430/460 would be a much more reliable car, based upon my own experience with Lexus.

I meant 4matic. I'm not very savvy on these cars. They do scare me as far as repairs. I like Lexus cars but need 4 wheel power to get up my drive way in the winter.

My brother has a 2012 E350 4matic sport. Its a nice car. It rides nicely and is very quiet, but its boring to drive. I guess it does what its supposed to do, and would make a great car for the wife, but not for me. He's bored with it already after less then a year of ownership.

Seriously, Used Mercedes scare me. In fact, any out of warranty German built car scares me. Have you looked at the AWD Infiniti G35x or their super plush M35x ?

Buy an AWD Acura TL tech package. Way more bang for the buck, way better reliability, way better on maintenance costs, way better tech! I'm an Acura dealer in CT so I know how good a car the TL is. Good luck...

it's not the buyin of these german vehicles...it's maintaing them and repairing them that's gonna have you cryin likin a toddler. Go Lexus/toyota, acura/honda or infinit/nissan....etc. .....you will thank us later.

I think a CTS-V Auto would be much better car for your wife...you can get a wagon, those are practical...



But the E350s are nice cars that are very comfortable to drive...the only thing that would keep me from buying one is the cost of repairs and general maintenance.

I recently sold my 2010 e63.... Never again!!! Loved the looks, hated the reliability. Bought it Brand New and it was probably in the dealership 12-15 times in 3 years

Well, MB is out. Every one who owned one says the same ****.
Wifey poo said no TL's either. So, I'm going to keep her in her 2008 A6 (that I don't care for) for one more year.

In the import luxury segment:

- Teutonic origin: LEASE only!
- Japanese origin: BUY! (certified preowned buy is doubleplusgood!)


This is an either-or, and you can have Teutonic feel & charm and Japanese durability & consistency in one package because it simply does not exist in the market right now.

My uncle has one of these -- think its a 2008 or 2009. It nickels and dimes him to death. little piddly stuff always going out - power windows, AC problems, latest thing was transmission. Benzes are ok when they are new and under full bumper to bumper warranty. after warranty is over sell and move on.

Great vehicle and although I bought new...the resale is in the crapper.

Never had one problem and I bought the first run before they even hit the dealerships. Not one problem in46k miles and the wife is very happy.

I just saw the third generation cts at the NY autoshow and it was very sharp looking but the 420 hp twin turbo v 6 was not yet available with the AWD.....

As far as the mb e350 4 matic the subsidized lease deal is the way to go.
