What old car should I buy? <$20K

a year old gti. Very fun, not too powerful but feels quick for 200hp/under 3000lbs. dsg is awesome, refined, handling is great. I plan on picking one up at the end of this year unless I can afford a used c6. I've heard a tune is very cheap and adds reliable 100hp.

Not sure what you are looking for. If I were looking for another toy it would be top down and a hoot to drive. Mazda Miata, Porsche Boxster, Honda S2000 and even an older 911 vert might be had for 20K

Someone said a split bumber 70's Camaro, I like that idea...
I had an IROC-Z as my toy before my Z06....
I still love them, you can get a real cheap one and drop and LS in it easy...
Mine was black with a silver stripe down the middle but here is another one done up really nice... Only thing i dont like is the wing, i prefer the stock wing.

I would look for something that is listed for more but has been sitting for a while because nobody will buy it at the price the owner wants.
For a different approach I would try the search engine wherever used cars are listed, and see what comes up when you use the tag “frame off restoration”?
There are a lot of earlier muscle cars that have had ground-up restoration work done where the owners are asking $30,000 for them, but there are no takers.
In most cases those people did not want to sell their cars and are doing so out of necessity. Therefore, you just might be a little find a better deal on a really nice 60s muscle car than what you think you might be able to find.
Even non-muscle car like a middle to late 60s convertible might be fun to play with for a while.
