That is nowhere near a factory built Mustang and it's probably pushing $100k (if not more).

$40k for the Shelby American 850 hp "Super Snake" package and another $15k for the "widebody" option.
So a minimum of $110k and ~$125k for a fully loaded, new in the wrapper 850 hp "Super Snake". Are you f*cking kidding me? And you're going to compare this to what...the last gen C6 ZR1? A ~$53k C7?

Of course you don't compare these. That's why you go and buy a 30K Mustang GT and race it stock against other stock Mustang GTs for fun.
BEST BANG for the BUCK. 400 HP on regular gas. 1G on Hoosiers.

Still, I miss my C5 Z06.......

I can't believe how much thought and words are going into a thread comparing the C7 with a mustang! Come On! First, there's no performance data out on the C7 yet. Second, every iteration of the vette since 1996 has been faster, better, every single revision time. Very likely the base C7 will about equal a C6 Z06, which is saying a lot. worrying about comparisons with mustangs is absurd. third, you're worrying about a mustang. look what it takes in the stock mustang world to (almost) equal a 2002 Z06. Please, a lot of these comments are just ignorant, sorry, don't take it personal. measuring dicks, puh-lease.

I was just joking. Relax lol. I doubt many will pay over 100K for a Mustang.

Oh I just have to laugh cause I know why vetteboy keeps talking about the future Mustangs...it's because the present GT500 with so much more HP (80) than the ZL1 and so much less weight than the ZL1 STILL loses at the track to the ZL1 by significant margins.

My new issue of the Car and Drivers Lightning Round came to me and I was laughin my *** off when I read that the Rustang GT500 lost to the ZL1 by more than 3 SECONDS! :rof l:
The ZL1 even beat the MB C63 AMG Black Series.

The $37k Camaro SS1LE was less than a sec. behind the $63k Rustang. C&D even admitted they blew it and probably lost a second or more in the SS1LE by their own screw ups or it, too, would have beat the great GT500! Wow.

And the funniest thing is that he thinks the new Vette will get beat by a 455 HP Rustang??!! LMAO.

Go buy a Car and Driver Feb edition. Dramatic shot of a GT500 on the cover, the one that lost to BOTH the Camaro ZL1 and the Camaro SS 1LE.

Oh I know the Camaros are quicker around the track. I'm talking about the OP's claim of 455hp for the new Mustang.

OIC. He is online here...probably tapping out another C7 hate thread while he stays away from this one.

Horsepower is not the number to end all.....if you know anything about both cars, you know the Corvette is so much more than a strait line machine.

A near 700hp Shelby with IRS weighing 3400 pounds would be mad. Forget C7, that's going to go right after the Viper. I believe the C7 ZR1 might be faster though.
Whoever says GM has the Camaro to compete with the Mustang needs to understand that GM will never make a top Camaro with the same power/weight ratio as a Z06 or ZR1 Vette. I think after 2015 the Mustang would compete neither with the Corvette or Camaro directly but occupy a niche somewhere in between the two

This here is a good point, even the last model GT500 ran 1:38 at Laguna with Randy Pobst driving. Look at the list of cars in front of it, and most of them have R-compound tires or tires with R-compound level grip. Put a GT500 on MPSC and would probably run a 1:35-1:36.

Put that on a diet and watch out. Ford is making some moves with the Mustang. It's going to be a supercar before we know it. Reduce weight and add IRS and this thing will be running neck and neck with the big dogs.

You really oughta read that Lightning Lap article. It is way more than that. Ford has thrown so much money at changing the Mustang, having all these different models that Shelby develops for them the last five years, it makes your head spin. Yet they still can't even beat two Camaros, one that is close to half the cost of the GT500.

I would remind you that the Camaro won't be standing still either. It can beat a Stang with 80 more hp and a 400 lb advantage today and it will continue advancing.

It really won't be a Mustang at that point. It will be an Evos with a big engine. If they were smart, Ford would just bring back the Ford GT and FINALLY make it a production vehicle.
