Default '09 Pontiac G8 GT

It's not a Corvette, but I figure people might be interested in my vehicle.

Over the past few years I have been working on a plan for converting my G8 GT from a mild-mannered daily driver into a Road Course and Auto-X attacking beast. I put a plan together to modestly increase the power and tighten-up the handling without compromising the drivability and reliability. The car is still my daily driver, but it now has a new attitude.

Engine/Exhaust:
Magnacharger TVS1900
52lb Injectors
Ported throttle body
Roto-fab Cold Air Intake
JBA Shorty Headers
SOLO High Flow Cats (w/wideband bungs)
Corsa Cat-back Exhaust
Billet Prototype Catch Can

Drivetrain:
Camaro Differential w/3.45 Gears
GForce 1000 HP Race Axles
Transmission Cooler

Suspension/Brakes:
Pedders Track II kit with Super Car Coilovers
Spohn Rear Lower Control Arms (Poly Bushings)
Spohn Rear Trailing Arms (Poly Bushings)
Spohn Rear Toe Links (Poly Bushings)
Baer Pro Plus Big Brake Kit (Front & Rear) w/14" Slotted Rotors

Chassis:
BMR Sub-Frame Connectors
BMR Driveshaft Tunnel Brace

Interior/Electronics:
In-Dash GPS
JHP Double Hump Gauge Pod w/Autometer Sport Comp II Gauges (Boost & Fuel Pressure)
HSV Smoker's Package
Sliding Console Lid
Back-up Camera w/VIM and iPod integration
Factory (2009.5) OnStar w/Bluetooth
V1 Radar Detector w/custom Remote Display
DashHawk
Race-Technologies DL1 Data Logger (20Hz Advanced GPS) and DASH 3 Display

Exterior Appearance:
Maverick Man Carbon Fiber Spoiler
GXP Rear Diffuser

Wrenched & Tuned by:
Synergy Motorsports

444rwhp / 460rwtq (@3596rpm)

A big thank you goes out to Rick from Synergy Motorsports for performing all of the wrenching and tuning to make this project a success. Also, I would like to thank all of the sponsors who provided parts for my project (Pace Performance, Maryland Speed, GForce Engineering, Spohn Performance, PFYC, JHP, SOLO Performance, BMR Fabrication, Pedders USA, Crazy Paul, Maverick Man, Billet Prototypes, and GTOShiftLight.com).

-Todd...

PS - Next round of mods are already in the works. Since I have the "go" taken care of, I figured I would work on some of the "show". I could tell you all my plans now, but that would take away some of the surprise of revealing it when it is finished.

Unfortunately I was not present for much of the install, but I was able to get into the shop before everything was wrapped-up to take some photos.

Looks good... Nice sleeper. I thought it would've made more power with the SC...

Not sure why you should think it would make more power?? The car stock has 361 crank HP, through the slush box you will lose a minimum of 15% leaving you with a 305-310 rear wheel HP car. The supercharger added 130+ rwhp on basically a completely stock motor with a few bolt ons. I'd say that's pretty good.

Before the supercharger and HF Cats I dynoed at ~325rwhp. I'm running the stock pulley (~6psi) and I'm leaving a few HP on table by not running LTs. My tune is also quite conservative... this is my daily driver and I didn't want any issues on long roads trips (this summer I drove 9281 miles across the US). Compared to other G8 GT's (not the 6.2L GXP) with the stock pulley... I'm within the noise of dyno-to-dyno variability.

Ultimately, I wasn't shooting for a HP number. I wanted a well balanced vehicle for power and handling. While 450rwhp would have been nice, I wasn't going to sacrifice reliability to get it.

-Todd...

PS - After a year with this setup I'm debating adding a mild-cam, smaller pulley, LTs, and a fuel system. Bumping-up the power at the higher RPMs would be nice.

It looks like you have a solid package with the way it currently sits, fun, great handling/braking and plenty of power for a DD. Im sure upping the boost and adding a cam will get you at the 500+ rwhp mark

That's about where I am with my SC G8 with long tubes and stock mufflers. Nice.

Computer dudes! I've got something turned/on or turned/off on my control panel on my PC, for all I see are red X's. I'm dying to see pics of this ride. Any help?

Got it now! Very nice set-up. Would love to have the cash to do something like that to my GTO.
