That a fully built track car can beat a street car?

At least you would of figured one of the cars to have been some modern year Shelby 500, not a bad azz 1970/71 Challenger, purpose built for drag racing. vs an orange C5 Coupe with C5 Z06 brake ducts added on to its body.

Jesus Christ you do realize you're talking about a corvette right?
If anything i think corvettes are built for it. I own a Z06 and an R8 and have owned various others however i in no way think of my Z06 as some hot shot expensive super car. Yea it can hang with most super cars around a ring and in a straight line. but it is still what it is, a corvette. The 2013 Gt500 is going for around 60k and a new Z06 is going for what 80K, you can find them used for 40k. The corvette is a cheap super car. Calling the mustang a cheap fast car and owning a corvette really donsent add up man..

I think the Gt500 while aiming for the Zl1 will step into the Z06s territory. Im looking into trading the Z in for one. However the GTR still has my eye caught.

According to some on this site, spending 40K on a vette puts them in a higher Social Economic Status than those trailer trash individuals that cash their welfare checks and buy a 60K+ mustang. It's quite laughable actually. The vette purist's will be here shortly to explain how the hired help drives mustang's, while the blue blood's drive corvettes.

Just thought I'd post that Car and Driver got 11.8 @ 125 mph 1/4 for the 13 gt500 and they also got 0-150mph at 17.6 secs for the 662hp Mustang. In 09 Car and Driver ran the z06 in the 1/4 to 11.7 at 124mph. The z ran 0-150 in 17.3 secs. The zr1 on the same day as the z06 ran 0-150 in 16.4 secs. The fastest time 0-150mph for a z06 I've seen is 17 secs flat I think.

IMO, no Mustang is a direct competitor for ANY Corvette. Yes, some may have near the same or better raw performance numbers, but they simply aren't in the same class (not saying one is better or worse, just different).

BTW...I raced Mustangs for many years (sometimes even successfully) and still very much like them, so I'm hardly a Corvette/GM nutswinger.

Who me?? I didn't say Motor Trend, I said car and driver. Yeah they also ran a 06 z06 to a 11.5 @ 127mph. (Motor trend). What's your point?

I don't know what the cost or production and purchase process is but I heard that Super Snake is the meanest machine even over an AC Cobra.

I just bought a new 2013 GT 500, Kona blue, stripe delete and unlike my ZR1...actually can get the power to the ground and is a WHOLE bunch easier to drive fast. For a solid rear axle car and after spending a day at Thunder Hill pounding the ZR1 and the GT 500...trust me..the GT 500 for what it cost..is a spectacular deal. If you haven't driven one..try it...totally different feel than a Vette...actually feels a little more solid. I always found my ZR1 to feel a little vague right before it decided to swap ends, the GT500 talks to you the entire time, but then again it's to each their own. Roll my garage door up and there sits the ZR1, the GT 500, a 600 hp Subaru race car(eats everything on a track), and my Porsche Turbo. The nice thing about my GT 500 is that when I pull up to the light next to a Z06, I don't have to feel like I don't belong because I'm not 60 and still wearing gold chains..LOL

Its either Grabber blue or Deep Impact Blue. Kona blue stopped in 2012.

You prefer platinum? Congrats on the new ride. I'd lay low about the Subaru....... seriously. Even if it is the most wicked Subaru ever created, I'd lay low. Everything else sounds good

Factored to sea level as per NHRA formula, it went 200.7 MPH, but haters and jealousy prevail on CF!

UPDATE Yesterday Lethal performance stock 2013 Shelby GT500FULL weight car, stock interior, stock suspension, and stock 3.31 gearing with 150 shot NO2, big and littles, X-pipe, Lund Racing tune, CJ TB, went 9.77@148.80.... can you imagine going 148 through the quarter in THIRD GEAR!!!!!

Backup run was a 9.82 @ 142, like the angel of the camara watching it pull the wheels on the 1-2 shift! Done at ATCO, private rental session.
